Still, go back and talk to your doctor. The dosage you are using now may be all you need to manage your pain. If you have developed addiction, the addiction is the cause of craving higher dosage. I am certain that if you talk to your current doctor you will find that he or she is strict for a reason.

Why can't you use a regular doctor?

"Just because you have pain, does not mean that you cannot become addicted to the pills prescribed to help you. Happens all the time. Then folks are faced with both chronic pain AND drug addiction. Best advice? Talk to your doctor."

If one takes opiod-based medication for an extended amount of time, then in most cases, they're going to be addicted to them. That's not an insult at all, it's just the nature of the beast. One doesn't have to be actively seeking a high to be addicted to something.

"Some of us REALLY need pain medication! I am NOT A DRUG HEAD!!! Not only do I have alot of health problems, I also have CANCER, so your msart mouth comments, well you know what you can do with them!!

With the exception of pain that you may experience that may be associated with your cancer, having cancer is irrelevant to the conversation. Cancer does not discriminate between drug addicts and those with legitimate health issues that require prescriptions for pain medication. It is entirely possible that you could be a drug addict and a cancer patient. The two don't have to be mutually exclusive. I'm not suggesting that you are, I'm just sayin'.

"If you dont have health problems now, guess what?? Your day will come!! We all have them sooner or later!! DONT JUDGE,if you dont know the whole story!!"

I can't speak for anyone else, but I wasn't judging you personally. Like I stated earlier, I have loved ones that take pain medication regularly because they need it. The same may or may not be true of you.

"If you have never had server back pain you don't have the right to judge anyone."

I don't think that one's ability to judge is dependent on the pain that one experiences. In fact, one could even argue that your experiences have the potential to cloud your objectivity.

"I take narcotic's every day for back pain. I have had two major surgery's. The first on my lower back after trying everything to prevent it and it was a surgical failure. Nothing else can be done to it at all. My neck has four vertebra fused together as well. I am in pain all of the time. I wish I could get off of what I take but have been told there is no way."

I can't speak for the comments of others, but if you were offended by my comments, then perhaps you should ask yourself why you felt they were applicable to you.

My prior comments would also apply to those that go to a general physician and are prescribed medication for conditions such as depression and anxiety. I hear a lot of folks talking about their medication when discussing these conditions as well that show little to no interest in seeing a psychologist/psychiatrist. I wouldn't say that everyone taking medication to treat such conditions were addicts. However, the fact that many people focus solely on medication says something. It doesn't say that everyone is an addict, but it does say something about our mindset insofar as the manner of treatment that we focus on most.

In all of the aforementioned cases, the medication is typically used to treat the symptoms of a disease or condition. My hope is that, at some point in the future, we begin to put more focus on addressing the disease/condition as opposed to treating the symptoms of the disease/condition. Until this is the case, the conditions will be a means to cultivate addiction.

One thing I've observed is the number of people who have back pain. Many of the folks I know are aging, and back pain seems to be a common problem. Some of them have had multiple surgeries. Still, spinal surgery is not always successful; Much of the damage can be blamed on past injuries and also degenerative arthritis.

There's not much in the way of "advanced techniques" that will always help the pain. Some do get relief from acupuncture of course, but that doesn't help everyone with back pain.

I've noticed a pattern in the struggle that a great many people have regarding pain relief. I see/hear a lot of folks asking about where they can get more narcotics to deal with their pain, but I don't see/hear near as many people seeking out treatment or doctors that can deal with the underlying problems causing the pain. You never see/hear peeps inquire about new medical advances that may have the potential to solve the underlying problem. It's always, "Them other people is the addicts, where can I get me some more drugs."

You may want to see an addiction specialist. It is entirely possible that the medication is working but the addiction has taken over. Can't hurt. Ask your doctor about it.

If it's back pain, I would seek a chiropractor. My father got into a real bad one and when he went to the one in wilkesboro. I saw some real big changes and he won't take pain killers. Can't, but he's not complained anymore except for his legs sometimes which is normal actually. I go because of these really bad head aches and the pressure that kept building up between my shoulder blades that I couldn't sleep anywhere except in my recliner sometimes in a certain angle. I miss my ugly seat but I gotta find a new one since after 4 yrs with it, the leg and butt part finally wore out and broke on me.

Get up early in the morning and go to 6th and Main. Ask everyone you see which doctor got them addicted. You will find your answer. Before you leave, ask them what they would do if they could start over

Is the amount you get not enough to relieve the pain or just not enough to sell on the street? Opiates & heroin based drugs are on the way out DR wise. May be able to find them street wise.$$$$$$.
