It sounds as if you and I are interested in the same thing. We should work together and stop attacking each other. Over the years I have been in a unique position to know how this county is run. Most business in Wilkes is run out the back door. I want to stop this practice and create a more beneficial atmosphere for all the citizens of Wilkes.

I will say this, if Wilkes had more better paying jobs here, I wouldn't be driving to Statesville everyday. Unfortunately in my profession making what I make Wilkes doesn't have opportunities for my profession so I drive where there is a better opportunity. I do hope in the near future Wilkes will have better opportunities for our children besides Manufacturing.

By blocking businesses? There are many reasons a business could be interested in coming to Wilkes yet other places are more enticing . I will agree we need more jobs here, but we need to change our way of thinking instead of being a farming/ manufacturing county we need to teach more technology. There is nothing wrong with farming or manufacturing but we as a country need to think outside the box and educate our children to have that foundation for better business to decide to come here. Lenior has Google, there is no reason we can't have something like that here. I don't believe anyone is blocking a business but we just aren't enticing enough for them to choose us.

What has our local government done to help it citizens? A good 40% of our citizens are on social programs. This money should have gone to our workers but instead it went to lining the pockets of a select few.

Ok where is that article at ? I will say the pasture close to the airport isn't owned by the Bowmans.

Yes and it was owned by Bowman's wife's family. That is who sold it to the county. At least that is what the article I read said.

Did Tom Bowman own that pasture where the airport is ? That airport has been in its current location since the late 80s

Local government will buy a piece of property then in a few months they sell it to someone. Who did they buy it from and who did they sell it to? How much did they pay for it and how much did they sell it for? Questions everyone should be asking.
