It may not be that big of a deal to you but tell that to the girl who could have been one of the most decorated tracks stars in Connecticut history. But she lost four state titles to boys. But by all means, let's not worry about young girls self confidence if helps the boys feel better about themselves. Thankfully a lot of states are moving toward banning boys from girls competition.
