Heps, I just get a little annoyed when people do a lot of talking about things they know very little about. I will say that J. C. worked long and hard for what he had. He was a hard nosed business man who looked after his interest first and would use your money if you let him. He had a unique ability to copy things and end up making them better and more profitable. He employed people who knew what they were doing. I traveled many miles, looked at and built many things for him over the years. He paid for them all.

Old Dixie Dog, I didn't know him at all. I never met him. If you want to tell us some things about him, please do.

After reading the many post on this topic, one thing is strikingly apparent. Not many folks knew much about J. C. Faw.

The pot found was in a barn where the house is now. The fellows who had the land rented went to prison but Faw didn't know anything about it. The case was cracked when some kids parnets called the law saying there kids had been shot at while playing near the barn. Funny thing the case almost got thrown out on the search. This was back in the 70's when our economy was booming. Home grown.

Let me first of all say I knew JC, but not well. I had limited dealings with him for several years. I am pretty perceptive and this is my personal thought. To me he seemed to be a miserable person. He never smiled, joked and just seemed unhappy. Whoever said money can’t buy happiness hit the nail on the head.

I know first hand that many have been affected in a positive and negative way by J.C. There are those who are sadden by his loss and those who could care less. I am in the middle - experienced both. I harbor no hate - so I guess I will just take a chitandgrin.

That's interesting, but doesn't surprise me. Ever watch the show Ozarks? It explains a lot!

That's funny I remember when several hundred pounds of pot were found in a barn at his house and nothing ever happened. Must have been the helps

How disrespectful can people be? Shame on all of you for making the ugly comments about someone's family members. Has he directly done anything to any of you? I would guess not to most of you. He was a business man with much success. Jealously and Ugly don't look good on anybody. It was no one business how he made his money. There have been many people in Wilkes County that have made millions in not so nice ways. At least the most of his money was made legal. Not running liquor, pot, cocaine, and wh*res. If all people have to worry about is Taco Bell, then you need a new hobby. Maybe you go up to Tipton's where they are trying to keep the ground from falling in from the new building.

I doubt if there is anyone on here that has not benefited from JC Faw's success. Everyone in Wilkes has shopped in one of his buildings, worked for him, filled up at one of his stations etc. Few of you have been personally beat out of anything by him and most have only heard of his business dealings. I am sure he did a lot we didn't know of to help others. I had personal business deals with him and didn't always come out with a profit. JC was a shrewd businessman, he knew how to make money and enjoyed it as much as anyone I have ever known. After getting slammed a few times I began to understand him. He looked at business deals like a game of "he who walked away with the money won". It has caused me to be a better trader and I am sure helped may others as well. Didn't make much difference what the method of the deal was, if he walked away from it with your money in his pocket he slept well. I always thought he had the business ethics of a mixture of Arab and Chinese. He had a good family, a good business, a good time. I wish those left behind to learn from him, think good thoughts and ignore the naysayers

Mr. Faw is someones husband,father,grandfather,uncle,brother,cousin....A LOVED ONE.. you are putting him down trying to make him look bad in reality you are the one looking ...He is gone on off to a better place...TRY doing half of the things this man has done for Many Counties.... It Just pisses me off that people are so simple minded and their life so miserable that you would have to say some old negativity crap.....***SImple mind-Simple A** Life

I guess there are many different opinions of Mr. Faw in Wilkes County. He did none the less keep many businesses going in Wilkes while other places were packing up and leaving to lower paying areas and even to foreign countries. I never had to deal with Mr. Faw in any way because I was just an old country boy trying to always make a living sometimes ever so meager. But when push comes to shove all of us are going to leave this old world with the same amount. Most important thing is to be ready to meet our maker. Rest in Peace Mr. Faw and thanks for all you did to help Wilkes County.
