Is there any in the gowilkes bunch that can say the rest area/visitors center has helped their business's in any way. Not counting working on the construction or the lot lizard's of course

I do not think truckers can use a rest area or on/ off ramp now to sleep.They changed the laws and now truckers are being charged $30 to spend the night @ Flying J's etc.

All the wilkes county crooks or commissioners whichever you want to call them had to have something to hide the scamming money in,bet none of that came out of their checks like it did

And yet our wonderful county wouldn't help LADD when they wanted to build a big warehouse closer to the main highway. All they had to do was help with the cost of the water line! Jobs aren't important but big old useless, showy, unnecessary rest centers are.

Excuse me if I am not impressed, Cost 12 million dollars to build . With 60674 visitors last fiscal year. Whopee! my math aint real strong but that's something like 197 dollars a head not counting the maintenance cost of 92 k a year. That money didn't fall from the sky its taxpayer dollars. Plus it doesn't help the business's located at the off ramps. Don't know about you but if I can hit a rest area I don't get of the highway in small towns
