Don't be prejudice, maybe they like their job. You cannot relate to the common citizen anymore.

Why would anyone stay at a job making $7.50 an hour for 5 years anyway. Those kind of jobs are stepping stones to experience and better paying positions, I would hope! Of course, unless you we're able to go into management within the company.

Dollar General only pays their employees $7.50 an hour that is not a living wage.

Brandon, if IGA is doing so good why doesn't the Company give its employees a raise if you started with IGA making $7.50 an hour and you stayed 5 years upon when you quit you still would be making $7.50 an hour I know this for a fact my sister used to work there as a cashier stayed there 5 years and when she left she was still making $7.50 an hour and by the way Marie deserves a raise the last time she got a raise was when Bob Ashley was living

Marie...lol...sorry I made you feel atupid...(not really)

Who the feck are you to determine the rightness or wrongness of who sells what they inherited or why, and judge them for it?

Holly mountain enterprises. The short... and I mean short time I worked at that store I saw issues. If another company saw the potential for growth, and bought the stores, it wouldn't be a big surprise. Some pricing models are just so out of whack with their competition, I can see how that store isn't being as productive as it could be.

Again I'll mention DG is getting aggressive on them, and IGA needs to find a way to bite back. That renovation of the store across the road hit a good mark. The manager at IGA needs to hit back harder and keep showing customers that it is a better value and service provider.

The lack of field leadership seems to be the main issue. A store needs a good consultation about what they are doing. When my DM comes in and criticizes my store, I suddenly see somethings I missed. Fresh pair of eyes does something for a business sometimes.

I would prefer the store stay locally owned and ran. It just needs tweaking here and there to stay a competitor in this area. I would really love to see IGA push a big company like DG around, and make a big difference in our community.

btfc:: Who is "THEY"?? I mean alot of people in that area are dependent on that store for food, necessities Or whatever they need even Wild Irish Rose for that matter. Yet they can still drive 10-15 miles for needs if necessary. Yet again it's costly to drive that far especially if going to N Wilkesboro through the 4 lane project that will be finished in a couple weeks or so....

It wouldn't be a big shocker if they sold out. I mean the gas station part of the company was sold off. They only have two grocery stores here. And the Dollar General across the road is making a bigger go at taking away the business.

sold out to Food Lion

Wait, is that true? Are they going to open a new Food Lion in it's place? That would be great!

But with another one only 5-10 minutes down the road, I don't know that it would give them more business or just take away from the one they already have.
