I spoke with a friend who told me about being a single parent with two children. She was awakened from a sound sleep by a noise like a board creaking on the porch. She got up and got her semi-automatic pistol but on looking out the window did not see or hear anything. She put the firearm away. She said there was a conspiracy to take firearms away from all law-abiding citizens and she could not be a good mother if she could not protect herself or her children.

George Washington said: "Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence to ensure peace, security and happiness. The rifle and pistol are equally indispensable. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference. They deserve a place of honor with all that is good."

In Luke 22: 35-38 Jesus told his disciples to arm themselves, just before he was taken into captivity by the Roman soldiers to be crucified.
