Gun Rights

I don't really disagree with that, empowers. But Jesus would. His Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5, I think) said that if someone hits you, you should turn the other cheek so that they can hit that one. If someone steals something from you, you should offer them more.

In Jesus's teachings, you should NEVER use violence to fight back. Instead, you should use your words and teach the would-be thief about Jesus. And if you're killed doing it, you'll go to Heaven.

Further, studies have shown that you're infinitely more likely to have an accident and kill your family than use the gun to successfully defend yourself. Read this:

Now on a personal level, as a more traditional Conservative, I really don't think that the federal government should have the right to ban guns. They can ban the export of foreign-made guns and I'm OK with that, and they can tax ammunition like they do with cigarettes. But I believe that it should be up to the individual state to determine their own gun laws and restrictions.

But it's hard to ignore facts. Jesus said to never resort to violence, and studies have shown that your children are in MUCH much more likely to be injured or killed by a gun in the home than by a criminal. So other than the "well dadgum, I shoor do like shootin 'em" argument, I don't really understand why Republicans are in favor of owning guns. If they were really Christian they would be protesting gun stores.

Right is right and wrong is wrong. If you don't protect yourself or your family that is wrong. If the means to protect yourself and your family and your property are taken away, that is wrong. Tell me the threat of leaving you defenseless like a floor mat is not going on now. Make all kinds of excuses for those who don't give a **** about the American people and I know you have been brainwashed by 'the news' , social media, your 'friends', schools, universities, etc. There is usually an agenda behind all this and it ain't for the American people. And I am telling you straight up. Once the agenda is achieved the ones who have fallen for it will be expendable and will then be forced to walk the plank, be beheaded or have everything they have ever worked hard for taken and put into the communal pot to be taken from when deemed 'necessary'. A capitalist only wants what they work for, does not want to take what others have and does not want what he has worked hard for stolen from him....simple.

I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today's Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record.
Source: The America We Deserve, by Donald Trump

And during the first 2016 debate:

CLINTON: I believe strongly that commonsense gun safety measures would assist us. Right now--and this is something Donald has supported, along with the gun lobby--right now, we've got too many military-style weapons on the streets. And we need to pass a prohibition on anyone who's on the terrorist watch list from being able to buy a gun in our country. If you're too dangerous to fly, you are too dangerous to buy a gun.

TRUMP: First of all, I agree, and a lot of people even within my own party want to give certain rights to people on watch lists and no-fly lists. I agree with you. When a person is on a watch list or a no-fly list, and I have the endorsement of the NRA, which I'm very proud of--but I think we have to look very strongly at no-fly lists and watch lists. And when people are on there, if they shouldn't be on there, we'll help them legally, we'll help them get off. But I tend to agree with that quite strongly.

Maybe you're the one that's out of touch with the policies of the candidate you support?

Take a look, Trump's campaign promise on gun control was virtually identical to Hillary's.

Are you that out of touch with current events?

And just what military grade weapons do you think private citizens own?

Was that a quote from Trump, Affy? Because I remember he was very strongly in favor of banning assault weapons and any military-grade weapon.

In Luke 22: 35-38 Jesus told his disciples to arm themselves, just before he was taken into captivity by the Roman soldiers to be crucified.

So you're saying that Jesus was a hypocrite with that whole "turn the other cheek" talk?

Me get it now... Buy your guns straight from the Manufacturer... No problems...

Some folks like to fantasize that "someone" is going to take all their guns. It's a good reason for a gun manufacturer to sell you another one.

Who is campaigning on taking everyone's guns?

Try not to lie.

The funny poop is left winged loons campaigning on taking every ones guns. Even some of the democrats are not going along with that junk, just like a lot of the democrats are not going along with the new green deal and a lot more of the socialist progressives garbage.

I remember a few years back where Steve Whitley(he's dead now) was trying to protect a building that had his property in it and the building was broke into the night before and he didn't have the. Building fixed where the people who broke so he stayed in the building to protect his stuff and during that night someone else was trying to break in and he hollered and said he had a gun no they kepted on breaking in and he shot and killed one of them so Democrats in Washington wants to take away people's guns so what's people going to use to protect their stuff a bag of rocks or a hunting bow and arrow I would hate to be shot with a same arrow you would kill a deer with

The statement attributed to the first U.S. president reads, "Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. Firearms are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence." Much like the cherry tree legend about him, however, the quote appears to be a fabrication.

The statement, which is often referred to as the "liberty teeth" quote, is listed by Mount Vernon (Washington's historical estate) under "spurious quotations" attributed to Washington. It "does not show up in any of Washington's writings, nor does any closely related quote," per the estate.
