That's got nothing to do with the militia issue. The militia is the people. That's what the founding fathers meant that no free man shall be debarred the use of arms. Let's make it simple enough so a 6 yr. old can understand. The modern day equivalent of the Founding Fathers Right to Bear Arms is having nuclear warheads. The Founding Fathers had flintlock rifles. I'm guessing here but I'd say they'd have been lucky to fire 3 rounds per minute. The Militias also had cannons which were the king of "guns" and the battlefield at that time, which with one round of fire could leave body parts strewn everywhere. Our modern military has weapons that can destroy entire cities in the blink of an eye. The gun nuts always bring up the Founding Fathers and the Second Ammendment to justify the proliferation of assault style weapons, when the only purpose they serve is for a nut to slaughter innocent civilians. Our Government of today could defeat any "well regulated" militia with one tank, so any gun nut who claims they are exercising their Constitutional Right, is laughable, that is, until one of them decides that a school or church is the tyrannical government.

You might have something there. It should be a requirement to take one of these recognized gun safety courses before anyone could purchase a gun.

I think everyone should take the nra gun safety class even if they don't own a gun.
