Ok, I went through the Grammy awards and checked all the categories. The problem really seems to be, Drake doesn't fit in any of their categories. There is no category for hip hop. Maybe pop would have been better for his opinion, but I don't see where he really fits it either.

I don't think it would be hip hop, either, because hip hop is usually a mix of singing and rapping. It's just a song, and since it's a Top 20 song it would best fit under Pop. Same as The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, and other singers.

Of course, it wouldn't have won against them because it's not that good of a song. But it's about as much rap as it is heavy metal! LOL

I'd support a presidential executive order banning all use of auto tune. But, it's probably not going to happen.

True Rhythm & Blues artists would be insulted to be compared to what's his name

I thought rap and Hip Hop were in the same category. While it's obviously not rap, it could fit in an R&B/Hip Hop genre

Drake pigeonholed himself as a performer
If he doesn't like the category he can move his talentless self back to Canada and take Bieber with him

Honestly, it's not even that good of a song. And that "dancing!" LMAO!!!

But how could anyone confuse it for rap?

I always thought that the argument of racism in the Grammys was total BS, but I can't help but think that Drake has a point.

How did the song "Hotline Bling" win Best Rap Song, when it's not rap?? Drake thinks that it's because he's black, and they just didn't know where else to put him.

"I am referred to as a black artist, like last night at [the Grammys], I'm a black artist I'm apparently a rapper, even though Hotline Bling' is not a rap song. The only category they can manage to fit me in is in a rap category, maybe because I've rapped in the past or because I'm black. I can't figure out why."

Here's the video, and he's right, there's not a single second of rapping in it:
