It only took a cursory glance to see that the chat room is not a wholesome place to be.

Seems to be working fine for me:

You may need to double check that you don't have any apps or extensions that would prevent it from opening.

If disabling extensions doesn't help, please PM me and let me know what browser you're using, and any screenshots of exactly what you're seeing would help.

I had no idea people were doing that... I've turned off "image embedding" and "video embedding", hopefully that will help.

I was shocked to see so much p**n being played on the chatroom today. I wish people would keep such things in private chat or be booted off this site.

It isn't asking for a password. It just simply signs in when you click on the chat window button.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding. If you're not logged in when you go to:

then you have to log in before the button shows up to log in to the chat room. Right?

But if you're already logged in, then you don't have to log in to the chat room separately.

Is there a way around it that I'm not seeing?

Don't worry, Ron, we have no intention of collecting IP addresses, or anything else. In fact, we changed our policy in 2014 to stop collecting any identifying information in connection to usernames, after a detective in Yadkin county tried to threaten us with what I consider to be an illegal abuse of authority.

But even if someone did get your IP address, it would be completely useless. They could determine who your internet provider is, but that's all they could do without a judge's intervention (which would require that you've done something criminal).

That would be a terrible idea having a IP address linked to your name, there are people that would use that for their own personal gain,I've seen people threaten other people about their address,Jason whatever you do don't allow that

You just needed to make ut so everytine someone came on here they had to use their password to get in.

The current system should be requiring the password, please let me know if it's not. The old system had a bug that allowed someone to log in without a password, though, and I've worked pretty hard with this company to make sure that it's no longer a problem.

Also needs to be tied to the IP address everyone has. There are much to many fake useres on here. Rgey can log in and turn around and log in under abother screen name. They should only have one and only be alliwed to gave ine. Other sites have this system. Look at Amazon.com for example.

Unfortunately, this really isn't possible. IP addresses stopped being relevant when smart phones came out, but were never practical for this purpose.

For example, every person at Lowes offices has the same IP address. Same goes for every user at WCC or the library, or everyone using a public WiFi. And their IP address changes as they go from network to network.

Further, someone on dial-up internet (which is a surprisingly high number) will have a new IP address every time they connect to the internet.

I'm not entirely opposed to setting up an admin for the chat room to help prevent those types of problems, but who would volunteer that's completely trustworthy and has nothing to do but sit in the chat room and moderate all day?
