Its no ones fault but your own if you take a job that doesn't pay enough. For example about 15 years ago I was working for a grading company in Mtn city Tenn. making double digit money per hour. A company local to where I live called and offered me a job where I would move equipment myself and do the job and then load up and move to the next one. For all that they wanted to pay me 8 bucks an hour. I laugh and reminded them that they called me and told them I wouldn't put my Fing work boots on for 8 bucks an hour and told them what my bottom dollars would be which they paid.
They would have liked to get an experienced operator with a clean driving record and a class A cdl for 8 bucks in hour and if I would have said yes it would have been no ones fault but my own for taking such a low paying job.
If you want to be able to make good money you need to make your self wanted do to your good work ethic and job performance. I just had a company call me the other day wanting me to come to work for them and offered me 18 to 20 dollars and hour to start and lots of over time. I went back to my employer and told them what had happen and got a raise to stay with them. I get calls from company's all the time asking me to come work for them because of my dependability and ability to do the job correctly the first time.
I remember years ago when MDI in Hickory call and offered me a job because I am a certified fork lift operator and only offered a dollar or two above minimum wage and said no thanks but again it would have been no ones fault but my own if I sold my labor for such a low wage.
Company's all always going to be looking for the lowest cost labor they can find just like they look for the lowest cost materials, property , ECT. If you want to make good money make your self wanted in what ever you do be that person that every one recommends but don't expect McDonalds to pay 15 dollars an hour to flip burgers everyone has to work their way up from the bottom

I wonder how their interpretation of those platform positions would compare to your policy proposals today.

Excerpt from the 1956 gop platform Provide federal assistance to low income communities Protect Social Security Provide asylum for refugees Extend minimum wage Improve un-employment benefit system so it covers more people Strengthen labor laws so workers can easily join a union Require equal pay for equal work regardless of sex
What happened ? (greed?) (tried to copy & paste but was flagged) Just google gop 1956 platform so Joey T will believe it
