You can read on here literally every day, people get their news from memes and conspiracy websites... and fully believe every word of it.

20 years ago, you would have been laughed off of the site if you believed the National Enquirer but ignored real news. Today, that's somehow become the majority

I remember watching a movie several years back called Zeitgeist. It described how the NWO would seek to dumb down our future generations so perhaps you're right. Less dissent among the ranks that way.

90% was hyperbole, but not off by much:

Ignorant since my original wording was censored

So basically you're saying 90% of this country is ?

antithesis

Here's how you know that's BS... 90% of people have no idea what Congress is or does, all they know is that if they get money from the government then they thank Trump.

So they're promoting a lot of things that would help the average person, knowing that Trump will get the thanks for it.

Good. Maybe the lazy SOBs will go back to work and we can get some stuff done.

Well that's because Republicans don't want to reward people for not working. Makes sense if you understand the way the economy works. The Democratic Party is bribing people essentially because they're desperate to get Trump out of office but make no mistake. If Biden is elected the Democrats will drop this rosy charade and end the handouts.

Probably. The cycle is pretty clear: Republicans ruin the economy, America calls on Democrats to fix it.

Yeah, probably too busy.

They should have, but they were probably too busy cleaning up a Republican's mess. Until our workers are paid better, the economy will never fully recover.

Did they pay more during the McEars and Basement boy administration. ?

Democrats are just pandering for votes AGAIN

The fact that some people think $600 a week is a windfall tells you all you need to know about the Drumpfconomy.

Those businesses need to pay their employees better to start with.

I don't disagree that it should be based on median income for the area... $600 means a LOT more to poor rural people in Wilkes (where the average per capita income is $23,745) than in, say, NYC (where the average per capita income is $50,825).

But for the people that consider $600 to be a windfall, many of them are getting a living wage for the first time in their lives! They're finally eating real food instead of Jesse Jones bologna and bread sandwiches. Not to mention the concern with child care if they go back to work. You can't really blame them for not wanting to go back to starving and struggling every day.

I've heard so many businesses say they are having difficulty hiring people because the workers will make less. $600 supplement was too high

Here's a more complete list of what both sides are proposing:

Some other key differences...

Both want to send another $1200 stimulus check, but Democrats want to include $1200 for each child (up to 3). Republicans want to include $500 for each child (no limit on how many children).

Democrats want to provide State and local aid, Republicans do not.

Democrats want to provide housing relief to help prevent eviction and foreclosures, Republicans do not.

Both want to support schools reopening, but Republicans want an additional $10 billion to help private schools.

Democrats want to help hospitals and other health care providers for pandemic related costs, and to help laid-off workers pay for health coverage that they lost after losing their job due to the pandemic. Republicans only want to help federal agencies and private companies to develop a vaccine.

Democrats want to expand COVID testing and contact tracing, Republicans want to cut it.

Democrats want to offer tax credits to companies that keep employees on the payroll during the pandemic, in addition to hazard pay for essential workersand food assistance for poor families. Republicans want to offer more grants to businesses (like the PPP program), but nothing for hazard pay or food assistance.

They'd get it together in a few days.
It's an election year.

The federal aid officially ended on July 31. Now House and Senate are at a stalemate...

Republicans want to cut the aid to $200 a week, with another decrease in September. They also want to protect businesses, doctors, and schools from liability if they open and an employee, customer, or student get COVID while there.

Democrats oppose that liability protection, and want to continue the $600 each week into next year.

Neither side is willing to give, so until one party blinks it looks like no one is getting anything.
