8pm. This show will be a trip down memory lane for some and a creative discovery for others. John Tesh and his 12-piece band will explore the golden years of big band music from the 1920s through the 1950s. The audience will hear hits like "I've Got the World on a String," "L-O-V-E," "The Way You Look Tonight," "In the Mood," "Summer Wind" and more. This performance brings to life a remarkable time in American culture.
John Tesh was known by many for his work with CBS Sports and then as co-host of Entertainment Tonight. But his life-long aspiration was always to be a professional musician and composer. John anonymously entered one of his compositions in a contest to find a new NBA theme song and won. John's theme was eventually played on every NBC broadcast of the NBA, some 12,000 times, and millions more times as promos. The song won an Emmy Award and proved that Tesh could be a successful musician and composer.
Seven million albums later, a string of number one radio hits, two Grammy nominations, six hit PBS music specials, and a Keyboard Magazine award, it's safe to say that people take Tesh's music seriously.
A limited number of tickets are available for this performance. For more information, or to purchase tickets, contact the Walker Center Box Office at 336-838-6260 or walker.boxoffice@wilkescc.edu.
