There is no perfect son and or daughter, yes teens do screw up but they learn from there mistakes and I'm pretty sure some part of your life you made a mistake. Give the kids a break and let them have there fun for now cause at one point they will be adults.

I told my kids to never lie to me. Because i would know they've lied.

I can honestly say that i am not perfect even though i have never drank, smoked or gotten anyone pregnant. But parents want to hide their heads in the sand as to what every day society puts before the children every day . What parents need to do is talk to their children from an early age about what the family values are. but don't expect perfection from a child. Children make mistakes and they learn from them. Just as the parents learned from the mistakes they made.

My approach was always to assume they would do all the above, then, I was pleased when it didn't happen.

He or she would never create another teen pregnancy.

He or she would never lie to you and have some bull **** excuse as to why he/she was X hours late for pick-up.

He or she would never smoke, do drugs, or drink alcohol.
