I have an old white male friend who is pushing 70 that is raising biracial babies that his daughter dumped on him and his attitude about the whole thing is this statement: "I couldn't just throw them in the trash." Unfortunately, the party would rather engage in gerrymandering and voter suppression than genuinely reach out to women and minorities in hopes of broadening their base. The republican party's tactics are not unlike those kids whose answer to cleaning their room is to shove all of the mess under the bed. And, I say this as someone who has voted for republican candidates in the past, it's very sad to see that they are so much more concerned with obstructionism than they are with genuinely helping people. That the Ryan Budget passed the House should tell everyone what they need to know about any candidate that voted for it.
