Or the owner of the inn...You would have to forgive him for killing the pregnant wife because for all he knew, she wasn't really pregnant but was hiding Joseph's gun and a couple of candlesticks under her dress.

I see people dialing cell phones with one hand all the time, driving, pushing shopping carts, holding babies, etc. Looks like this guy could have held a gun on this poor man while he dialed three numbers.- 911.

Maybe they arouse your paranoia because you don't know how to use a gun.
Around these parts, seems most of those packing are shooting tannerite. You never hear of a candlestick-wielding, crazy, old woman being shot. Don't wanna waste ammo, you know.
