WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF RACISM?

Remember last month when the SC cop shot the guy 8 times in the back and was charged with murder? A lot of people screamed racism, but I just thought he was a corrupt officer. He didn't yell slurs or anything and he pulled the guy over for a legitimate reason. But so many people call everything negative between blacks and whites racism.

"What exactly counts as racism? If I shoot someone 8 times, in the back while they are running and they happen to be black, does that count as racism or just me being a freaking psychopath?"

Depending on the situation, a person may not be either of these two things. If someone shoots someone else in the back 8 times because of their race, that is racism. If you shoot them for entertainment, that would be psychopathic. A person of one race shooting a person of another race doesn't mean that someone is racist and doesn't necessarily mean that they are a psychopath.

"Everyone's a little bit racist". Either a song from an off-color Musical or SNL, I cannot remember which. It is Hilarious, because it tells the truth about racism from ALL sides. If it offends...you might be a little bit racist!

John Wayne-I believe in white supremacy, until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility.'

I agree that a lack of education contributes to racism. However, I would disagree with the assertion that it is a lack of intelligence. It has nothing to do with intelligence. It is more a matter of conditioning. I think that what causes racism is the same that causes bigotry in most forms. It is the same thing that causes religions, cultures, races and people that are different to find themselves at odds with one another. I believe that it is human nature to be apprehensive of that which is different. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending racism or bigotry of any sort. I'm just saying that those with an aversion to diversity simply have not been conditioned to objectively accept that which is different.

Civilization is only possible because we strive to overcome many aspects of our human nature. You don't have to teach a child to lie, to cheat, to be selfish or to take what it wants by force when possible. When a child wants a toy that another child has, it is natural for the child to try to take the toy by force. It is natural for a child to lie to avoid punishment. It is natural for a child to be self-serving. When we teach our children to share and that it is not right to harm another child, we are teaching the child to overcome its basic nature. When I agree that education plays a role in racism, I only mean that humans have the capability to learn to overcome our basic human traits- to be open to diversity instead of threatened by it.

I think education and lack of intelligence as has been stated. However, I also believe that if you are not exposed to another race or culture there will be racism. Do not restrict yourself or your children to only socializing within there race.

I'll say this, like it not, it has been said before and I am repeating it. Racists to some but Not me because I just see it as the cold hard freaking truth and as they say sometimes truth hurts. Some Blacks from other areas are by Far more apt to use the Race Card than any other race in that area. Some blacks in those areas are just as sick of it as everyone else seems to be.

All over the news you hear a white man did this, a black man did that. There is no need to bring up the color of a person unless you are promoting racism. Right is right and wrong is wrong no matter what is done.

Goddess you are right when you said...Everyone must be careful these days not to be influenced by those promoting racism for any reason!!!!

Instead of.."Blacks must be careful these days not to be influenced by those promoting racism for a salfish gain." I should have said. We must all be careful not to be influenced by those promoting racism for a salfish gain.
