WHAT IS THE AMERICAN DREAM?

The American dream is alive and well, for the ones who believe in it. It doesn't matter who you are, where you live or what you drive...

The less you take from the government, the better off you are.

The American dream died long ago.

People still believe in it, though.

And the Dream still manages enough of a charade, occasionally, to perpetuate its existence.

When I think of the Anerican Dream, Death of a Salesman and poor Willie Loman always comes to mind.

Do our CHILDREN live a better life than we did?

NO.

Most of them still live with us.....as do our parents.

Being self sufficient, without help from any governments.

Do you live a better life than your parents did.Do you own more stuff than they did? The answer is probably yes. Are you as Happy and Content as you were when you were younger. At one time long long time ago in America you could get a decent job, earn a living, raise a family, have 2 cars and a couple cats in the yard.Never again will this be as easy to accomplish as in the past.

The American Dream is different for every individual.

I think people want to work, just generally they want to work on chasing their dream.

Not another persons dream.

Wishing the next generation will be better than this one. Now with so many people out of work or working 2 jobs to just survive is not what the American Dream should be.

But Money and Greed has destroyed much of what made American Great 50 years ago.

Quack I think the majority now does not wish to work let alone work hard for their "dream ". Yes I agree with you about expecting things - expecting things handed to them on the proverbial silver platter. Personally I want more. Not more stuff, I want to be happy but most of all I want a sense of personal pride. I have what I have because I did work. Sometimes hard. Especially when I was younger. But that was so I could ENJOY life later on. American Dream you ask? Maybe that is the dream for some....to live off others for basically their entire adult life. Just sayin.

For me ,I think the American dream is just to be happy and live a good life, have enough money to pay the bills as they come in ,and enjoy your family and friends....that would be enough and is enough for me.

Is the American Dream a Vision or a illusion or a Delusion? It is not what it use to be.

The American Dream is different than it was years ago. Each person has the right to pursue Happiness and strive for a better Life through hard work. But over time this American Dream has come to represent a set of expecting Owning Things and Making more Money.

The American Dream is a way of Life but it is taking risk and hard work, not by Chance but how we go about achieving it.
