OK, that's just plain gross. Of course I've heard a even grosser saying that involved peanuts as a kid that I'll likely never get out of my head. Thanks J.M.

We have much better shoes, better fitting shoes, plus less exercise.

I guess you're right Osmosis. I, however, must run on a treadmill to get any exercise at all. I force myself to do at least a mile every day. I would never put my converse on for my daily workout though. Asics all the way for me...they are great running shoes.

People developed blisters and corns. Years ago people didn't walk and jog for exercise. Put on a pair of work boots and work hard all day. You'll get all the exercise you want.

I have a pair of low top Chuck Taylors (i.e. converse). They are the most comfortable shoes ever.....for about an hour, two max; then I start noticing that they are rubbing my feet and causing problems. It's weird, but it makes me wonder how people ever walked long distances without good tennis shoes.

Bestill is correct. In one of the threads a week or so ago people discussed old tennis shoes. Sneakers and shoes back when I grew up had no padding and were as flat as a skillet inside. Shoes back then were just rubber and canvas with very little padding or arch support. They were also heavy compared to todays footware.

I use pumice stone to soften my feet and prevent calluses.
What exactly is a corn?

I remember as a young kid, my grandpa getting corns, and one of my aunts doctoring them. I also remember some from even a bit older age, TV commercials for products to treat/remove corns. You don't hear anyone complain about them any more or see any ads for products to treat corns. Did we cure corns?
