There's got to be more to it than her just being a victim of a situation. If she was forced to resign I'm sure they had evidence to support such a decision. Even though NC is a right to hire/fire state, under these circumstances where it comes as a result of an investigation they better have cause or she has a great argument for a lawsuit.

From what I heard, she's a victim in all of this. If she lost her job because someone else was stealing, then that really sucks for her.

I wonder is Ms York was allowed to return to her job. You know she probably knew this was going on all along.

What Mr. Poplin is accused of is wrong and if convicted should pay for it. I have taken several courses thru this department and each time Mr.Poplin went out of his way to help me a senior citizen. Whatever the reason I just hate it has happened.

This is in no way a defense of the JP, however let's put that distraction to rest also. The "news" of something big happening at WCC hit the streets mid-week, and being WBGC folks are gonna talk. Formal charges were not brought until Friday afternoon, too late for the JP to publish a comprehensive article by press time. In the next edition on Monday they published a fine article detailing known facts. I am sure they will continue to publish articles through the course of this matter until conclusion. Responsible journalism is not something to take lightly. As evidenced by some of the posts to this distraction, the media dogs are pulling your sled.
Continuing Education at WCC is a very important component to the course offerings and opportunities. Betrayal of the public trust by an administrator of that program hurts the community in many ways and needs to be dealt with accordingly. Money is the root of this evil but not the cause. The journal patriot had posted two articles. One about his arrest and the other about his specific charges. Somehow......the article with all the juicy details was deleted. I wonder why?

I have worked for a company for 17 years and can tell you of many situations where the most qualified were looked over and special consideration was given to friends or family of upper management. The days of working hard and being dependable to move up are over for the most part. No longer is it what you know but who you know. What's went on here pertaining to special treatment is no different than what goes on anywhere. Even in children's sports...... That's for another time... Praying for Gods direction in all the lives involved.

I agree with you Nora Rose. The only way to get a job at WCC is if you know somebody. It is never based on experience or education. I hate that his family has to suffer for his mistakes, but I wonder how his daughter got her job there? You think it had anything to do with Mr. Poplin? Look through the company directory sometimes and you will see lots of individuals with the same name. Continuing Education is a job at WCC, instructors are not even in the building half the time and do not teach the hours the course catalog states. Look for more changes.

The newspaper can only print what they have the facts for. Or whatever is in a police report. You can't just print hear say, that can cause you to get sued. AND if you people on here can do better go there and get a reporters job.
