Dang you Smalltown....why didn't you tell me I wasn't suppose to wash bedding on New Years? Guess I better put a different set of sheets on the bed.

"We were taught to NEVER wash any type of clothing or bedding on New Year's lest you wash away part of the family."

Uh oh...I've been washing clothes all day!!! Maybe I've washed away the bad part of the family :)

My brother phoned and wished me a Happy Circumcision Day. We are such Vatican II Casualties! What a gruesome childhood we had.

well we were always told that what ever you are doing at midnight is what you will be doing all year

We were taught to NEVER wash any type of clothing or bedding on New Year's lest you wash away part of the family.

At midnight New Year's Eve, or when you get up New Year's Day, open the back door to let the Old Year out, then open the front door to welcome the New Year in.

The first visitor to your home should be a dark haired member of the oppsite sex and they should bring in a sprig of evergreen to symbolize life.

In the South, New Year's dinner consists of: blackeyed peas, hog jowl, and collard greens. The greens represent wealth, the peas represent health, and the hog jowls to season everything with.
