Should people who receive food stamps, WIC, assisted housing ect. still receive there assistance after they are caught shoplifting or stealing? Just wanted to know what you good folks thought.

NO, my opinion is if you have a conviction you blew it! Too many people that do need help who are "playing by the rules", don't waste our tax money on losers.

Should people who use the internet without holding employment for over one year lose any rights to government assistance?
To me, the merit is the same.

This is about like asking if someone had confessed to two felonies during a plea bargain can they run for sheriff of a NC county.

I think they should not be aloud to have benefits after they are convicted

What if kids are involved? What then? Cut off assistance? Shuffle them off to a foster home? Just curious to see what the answers would be.

Definitely, put the kids in a foster home. By leaving them where they are (with a habitual degenerate), you're just increasing their odds of becoming the same type of problem.
With this type of punishment in place, if the parent loves their child then you can be sure that they wouldn't take the risk. And if they do, then obviously they don't love their child.

What if they have that child with them when they commit the crime?

Maybe the person needed to get by stealing. Yes its wrong and against the law, but without knowing the whole story we can't judge.

There is no rest of the story from this side. I was just curious as to what people thought.
Forever Cynic - do you know anybody who has ever lived in a foster home? If so ask them about their experience. From what I have heard it can be nice or it can really be unpleasant. Toss up.
I am still curious to see the responses.

If the child is with them I believe law mandates the child is immediately taken away.

Unless the whole story is known as was pointed out judgment cannot be made. Thank you Irish and Coal. Exactly what I was trying to get to.
