You must not have any kids dunkindonuts or you would know how hard these kids work to make good grades. My kids is in middle school and his work load is awful. I am very proud of him and what is he doing.

hope75 Posted 11:18 am, 11/04/2009
I don't buy it. They are teaching the North Carolina Stardard Course of Study...teaching toward the EOG... I suppose the better way to tell if our students deserve their A's would be to compare our EOG scores with the rest of the state. Which I haven't done...

There are crappy, lazy teachers in every district and it does't matter where they went to school. You can either teach, or you can't. If students in this district don't do well, it's more about what goes on at the central office than the teachers. Where money is and isn't appropriated, not paying the good teachers enough and treating them well enough to stick around, and a numbe rof other things.

dunkindonuts Posted 11:09 am, 11/04/2009
not so much. The teachers here are the ones that are making the tests and grading these students. Therefore the kids can only be as smart as the dumb teachers.

hope75 Posted 11:04 am, 11/04/2009
Following that line of logic, it would be harder for students in this district to make straight A's. You could say that these kids made A's despite crappy teaching...

dunkindonuts Posted 10:54 am, 11/04/2009
I wouldnt be so impressed with making all A's in this school system. Wilkes County is full of those Appalachian State mediocre teachers. I know plenty of teachers that skimmed by at Wilkes Comm. College and then somehow made it through ASU with a teachers degree and they can not even teach the basic knowledge needed. That is why we have so many high school students going off to college and failing to meet the standards needed to succeed.

Crazy-mtngirl Posted 10:19 am, 11/04/2009
So proud of my daughter she made all A's and 1 B.

hope75 Posted 09:59 am, 11/04/2009
We had math issues also. Both of mine that got a B, got it in math.

Makes me rethink my opinion on the Math Investigations issue. Or maybe they were just lazy this 9 weeks. Who knows with kids!!

rrdk0416 Posted 09:55 am, 11/04/2009
Between my 2 we had A's, B's and 1 C.
My 4th grader made her first "B"!!! and My 7th grader made his first "C" and it was in the same subject. MATH

cousinone Posted 08:23 am, 11/04/2009
All A s again. Yay!

happyathome Posted 06:30 am, 11/04/2009
My 3rd grader got all A's except for math and he got a B in that. My 1st grader received all A's and B's. I'm happy with A's and B's. It's when it drops below the B level that I start becoming a little less happy.
My sister in law (husband's sister) goes all beserk when her children bring home B's. She grounds them and takes things away. Then they have to suffer the speech they have to listen to from their grandparents about getting a B.

baratone09 Posted 12:46 am, 11/04/2009

hope75 Posted 8:46 pm, 11/03/2009
You hush up or I won't finish the ped. You know I need the girls out there handing me my tools and beer, lighting my cigarettes for me.

And stop making me joke about this. B's are NOT the best they can do. So there.

Mtnbiker Posted 8:44 pm, 11/03/2009
you are an abject failure as a parent Hope

spend less time modifying peds in the garage and give your girls guidance before they end up on skid row .... a few B's is where it all begins LOL

hope75 Posted 8:41 pm, 11/03/2009
All schools were supposed to.

My poor girls. We had a couple B's where there are normally A's. Is it wrong to expect that since they normally get straight A's, they should ALAWYS get straight A's? I think it might be, but I can't help but be a tad bit disappointed.
