You have a good argument. Sounds like you have had some time to think about this one. One would wonder why it bothers you so.
Who had the right to choose? One person? Two? A board of directors? A school system is not a sole proprietorship.
You seem to feel that the state has not allocated monies to Wilkes County Schools specifically for the salaries of employees (who happen to also be members of NCAE).
I don't usually sit in on the sate's appropriations meetings (only once in a great while), but I would say that you are incorrect if you assume that any individual has the right to decide to use monies allocated for salaries for any other purpose.
I'm not saying anyone in our county did this, but it has been the topic of many a conversation lately.

Mtnbiker Posted 8:18 pm, 11/19/2009
state money that should have gone toward a member's salary, hmmm, wanna try again on that one ?

are you saying someone wasn't getting paid wages they were owed ? or do you / they disagree with budgeting choices ?

rayofhope Posted 8:16 pm, 11/19/2009
NCAE tracks state budget money if it should have gone toward an NCAE member's salary, and instead, was spent on something else and is now unaccounted for.
NCAE fights for principals and superintendents. too, when necessary. They are ALL ABOUT ACCOUNTABILITY, friend.

promdress Posted 8:07 pm, 11/19/2009
Vicki Hugger will be a disaster. Be careful or Marty Hemrick will leave Watuaga and you will have Laws, Jr.

Mtnbiker Posted 7:46 pm, 11/19/2009
the NCAE is investigating their own funds missing or missing state funds ???? .... either way that's sounds unlikely .... Laws wouldn't have access to NCAE funds so that rules that out, and I can't imagine why they would be tracking state budget money

besides, all the NCAE cares about are statewide raises and fighting anything that makes teachers accountable

perhaps you could find some other spurious accusations to occupy your minds

lissy73 Posted 7:41 pm, 11/19/2009
I haven't heard anything about retiring. I have heard that NCAE is looking into a lot of missing money that this county has received. No one can account for it. I am still hopeful that Laws will decide to move on.

rayofhope Posted 7:39 pm, 11/19/2009
What's the verdict? Everyone's too quiet lately. It's like things are going to come to a screeching halt, and everyone's afraid to verbalize it for fear it will jinx the happy ending!
Heard today that both the super and his closest assistant will retire in December 2009, to be replaced by V.H.

Kit Kat Posted 03:29 am, 11/16/2009
Charlie Sink and wanda too!!!!

lissy73 Posted 8:39 pm, 11/15/2009
The main person that should be fired is Laws. Get rid of him and then and only then, can the problems of this county begin to be fixed.

searching4u Posted 7:34 pm, 11/15/2009
MTNBIKER: THANK GOD THAT WE LIVE IN A free country WHERE LARGE COMPANIES, GOVT ORGS, AND OUR BELOVED INSURANCE COMPANIES can be sued and should be sued daily for the wrongs they do! It is commod knowledge that:
The lady who was fired had/has MS! Which is a HANDICAP & in the STATE OF NC IT IS AGAINST THE LAW to hire a HANDICAP PERSON AND THEN FIRE THEM for their handicap . It is called DISCRIMINATION and you can bet your butt that she and her lawer did not settle for a couple months pay....

Mtnbiker Posted 6:50 pm, 11/15/2009
Searching4u, it's an unfortunate fact of our lawsuit happy society that often large companies, govt orgs, and insurance companies will pay off a frivolous lawsuit. Did this case actually go to court or was it settled ahead of time?

Assuming what you say is true I find it hard to believe she would've gotten much more than back wages (if that) and reinstatement unless there were discrimination issues involved. Under most circumstances it's not illegal to fire someone for being unable to show up enough to do their job. There may be all kinds of other issues involved here but that's the basic law.

Kit Kat Posted 6:49 pm, 11/15/2009
The thing about her is she doesn't even know HOW to do her so call job. Just another job given to someone who happens to be in the BUDDY system with laws !!

searching4u Posted 6:27 pm, 11/15/2009
Every law suit that has been filed against WCS has been paid off with TAX PAYER MONEY & there has been many. The last woman that worked for Director Sink was unjustly fired for being SICK. Yep! The woman got a attorney and fought back, refused to back down, got a nice "PAY OFF" from the TAX PAYERS OF WILKES coursity of Sink & WCS & Company....& it is business as usual on CHERRY STREET!

carehare Posted 1:09 pm, 11/15/2009
Morale has been at an all time low for teachers for a couple of years but now at the central office. Hum...there is one common factor in all schools and central office...poor leadership...Laws.

Mtnbiker Posted 12:02 pm, 11/15/2009
why don't you contact the state since you know so much

newtablet Posted 11:57 am, 11/15/2009
As a good friend of a former employee of Wilkes schools, I know for a fact that there is corruption. This person has secured an attorney and it will all come out soon. why doesn't someone contact the State Superintendent and fill her in?

I removed several posts for libel.

Maintanceman Posted 08:46 am, 11/14/2009
Well what do you expect from a county that is owned and run by a bunch of crooks & liars....

Kit Kat Posted 9:01 pm, 11/13/2009
AS long as you have charlie sink in office laws will be here too.

Searching4u Posted 8:48 pm, 11/13/2009
There are people who use to work for WCS that are not afraid to talk anymore. There is also alot people that work for WCS that are sick and tired of all the lies, the cover-ups, the fear tatics. The keep your mouth shut days are over! If you go to certain places to eat you can hear plenty. I have found taht certain people in churchs are not afraid to talk. It is my understanding that there is alot more to this then meets the eye ....a whole lot more.

Note from GoWilkes: a portion of this post was removed for libel
