B.R.O.C is taking apps for toys for tots today and through dec 3. 9 am to 2 pm. its good if you get there early ask for an app at the window

1goddess Posted 11:54 pm, 11/19/2009
Carious....you wanted to know which poster did this...they know who they are...

it's unbelieveable that these people would do something so low...what happened to their conscience...

Is this the kind of conditions that their children are living in. If someone would give a bag of clothing in such atrocious condition you can only imagine the condition of their homes.

Natural_Disaster Posted 9:25 pm, 11/19/2009
CARIOUS...i will not give out the screen names of those who have donated. If they wish to tell, thats up to them.
1goddess...thats ok. I cant get over it either. Im happy people are willing to help...I just dont know why someone would donate things just for me to throw them away. I wonder if they would give their child clothing for Christmas that had urine stains (or worse) on them.
Sighs....

CARIOUS Posted 9:20 pm, 11/19/2009
Which posters have donated so far?

1goddess Posted 9:17 pm, 11/19/2009
I wonder if these people thought what you were trying to do was some kind of joke...I'm just so bewildered by this...I'm sorry Natural, I don' mean to hijack your thread or your attempts to do something wonderful for the community...but I just can't get past this....

Well good grief...look what it says about the person or people who donated this stuff, I mean really...they donated items such as this...for children who may have little or nothing for Christmas morning!!!

I'm saddened that there are people that would do such a thing as this!!!

YODA Posted 7:58 pm, 11/19/2009
AMEN and good for you Natual - I have heard about some of the clothes that you have received. All I can say is OH NO It is so sad that people would actually donate clothes that are covered in such as this. Just pitiful !!!!

Natural_Disaster Posted 7:19 pm, 11/19/2009
ATTENTION EVERYONE!!

We still need lots and lots of stuff for these families! I have had so many people PM me with promises to donate and sponser famlies. So far nothing from them. A few people have donated some things....HOWEVER...THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY NEW ITEMS DONATED...NO TEEN ITEMS...ONLY A COUPLE OF TOYS....
I cant do this alone people. If you can donate..now is the time. We have to get this stuff together and distributed soon! I have lots of families waiting for donations and nothing really to give them! The families i have given too didnt really get anything that could be considered Christmas. Just a few clothes here in there, some dolls that ive given out, and thats about it.

For anyone who wants to donate....Please dont take this the wrong way..but....
Remember we are asking for new or gently used items. Rather it be clothes or toys...the items need to be clean and in good condition.
If you have clothes that need to be washed and you cant wash them, please let me know in advance. I do go through everything to check sizes etc..but it would be nice to have a warning if the clothes are going to be dirty. These items are suppose to be given to children for Christmas!
I can donate clothing items that are worn or have some imperfections...and have given some but warned the parents first so they knew what they were getting.
I do not want to donate clothing items that have very visible holes, rips, or very noticeable stains.
I have gotten some clothing thats covered in pet hair, had holes, rips, stains, missing buttons, covered in hair, covered in lint, wood shavings, bug shells, and some that had not even been washed with food stuck to them, urine stains, and other stains that i was afraid to even touch.
Please dont think im being ungrateful or picky. I dont mind washing some items before they are given out... i have already...I just think its very disrespectful to give items that are clearly nasty. I have a big bag full of clothes right now that i had to take back outside that i am debating rather or not i should just throw them away..thats how bad they are.

Natural_Disaster Posted 09:33 am, 11/19/2009
Thanks to the ladies who donated yesterday!!

I saw something in the newspaper about care connection taking applications. it was in either wednesday or fridays paper. I believe this is at the broc office off of 115, near the cattle sale location. I do not know the dates or times and I've thrown the paper away. you may want to call broc and ask.

Natural_Disaster Posted 07:26 am, 11/16/2009
omgoodness...I understand that. The reason i am not taking any more is because i dont want to give false hope to more families. There are so many on the list already and i am not getting any where close to enough donations for them. So far i have been able to give a few used clothing items and/or used toys to 4 families and i have a few used toy items, used clothing items left, as well as some dolls, used pc games and cds, a few stuffed animals and used board games. Everything i have left fills 3 thirteen gallon bags and 1 box. The only new items that have come in have been a few baby clothes with tags, and 2 small board games.I wouldnt feel right adding more families to list knowing that i will not have anything to give them. Im sorry that i had to cut off sign ups..but i have no other choice.
I am giving out the items to the famlies in order that they signed up and according to what they need.
As for BROC..from the information i had gotten a while back, they were not taking new families but that information could be wrong.
I wish i could do more but i am already planning on buying a few things each for several kids on the list because donations just are not coming in.

I want everyone who has donated to know that everything they have given is greatly appreciated and will be given to a family in need if it hasnt already. I dont want anyone to feel they havent done enough. I am just trying to stress this because i keep getting PMs and emails asking why im not taking new families or why i havent given their family anything yet.

undertakerslim Posted 07:07 am, 11/16/2009
So I heard BROC was having a sign up day today for CHRISTMAS IN WILKES....was that info incorrect? What can I do to help with this cause?

omgoodness Posted 8:28 pm, 11/15/2009
I understand about cut off dates but what about families that still need help? There are more and more families daily that need help. How do we as a county decide who gets help and who doesnt. I hope that no child wakes up on Christmas morning to see that there are no gifts or food in the house.

Natural_Disaster Posted 3:39 pm, 11/15/2009
Candy, i will send you a PM about drop off!
