Kenc. I agree with you. No party affiliation.

So true Pineapple, I know a one party system will never happen, and there would be many pitfalls. I just wish every elected official would devote less time to politics, and more time to serving the people.

Obama has accomplished a lot despite the repubs being against him at every turn.

A couple of questions that jump right out...

Whose campaigns did each of those contribute to?

Were those contributions as "individuals" only? If so, did they also contribute to groups/pacs and if so, how much more did they contribute under the name of something not mentioned in the article?

Were each if these donors able to influence others to contribute in their names so it didn't look like they themselves were pumping so much money into a campaign?

The debil is always in the details.

Couldn't get the article to load properly, so I didn't have the benefit of reading it. Will try again later.

I've said this before, KenC, but our problem is we elect men and women with the mentality of lawyers instead of men and women with the mentality of soldiers. We elect them to serve their country. Instead, they spend their time showboating and grandstanding and obstructing. They care more about looking good to their party and getting reelected than they do about the job they were hired to do. Soldiers, however, are given an objective and are willing to lay down their lives to accomplish it. Can you name one Congressperson willing to lay down his or her political life? Me, neither.

That's why we need term limits.

No doggie, let the people decide who's doing a good job and who isn't. People Power, we'll still have our vote.

So Kenny you are now abrogating a socialist government like your president is setting America up for. Priceless

Looks like we need to try a one party system , expect them all to do their jobs, and quit thinking that politicking is their job.

If they lie their opponents should be able to sue them.

All I hear is the "koch brothers;. Good grief. Are they the only rich ones donating money to a political cause?

On that I agree. Not only limits, but not being able to mention their opponents in ads. Only talk about their policies and what they have to offer. If they lie, they should face huge fines.

There could be fantastic leaders out there that are shut out by the way money has corrupted elections.

There shoul be a limit on what a campaign can spend

There's no way the Koch's will ever run out of money, wish we could run them out of politics.

So Steyer made billions on coal and then when we start closing those plants now he is a greenie who hates coal except in Australia where he still invest in coal.

In the 2012 election cycle, the Koch brothers channeled over $400 million through their groups "active in the 2012 elections," according to the Washington Post. [Washington Post, 1/5/14]This year, the Daily Beast reported that Koch groups plan to spend $290 million on elections. [Daily Beast, 6/13/14]

I can't find the stupid list again but I copied and pasted it off of usa today and it says it was from the FEC. The article only list the top few. My question is who is this Steyer guy.

I can remember the days when, if someone like the Koch brothers tried to buy our government, the people, ALL the people would rise up as one and drive them out of the political arena.

Now, they are looked upon as heroes to the right wing, the very people who would be hurt the most if the Kochs have their way and successfully take control of all branches of our government.

Why? ****ed if I know. And, debating them is pointless. I guess when you're too stupid to KNOW you're stupid, argument is a wasted effort.
