Salem Podiatry. It's near Forsyth Hospital. See Dr. Mothershed ( Sr. or Jr). They are very good.

Try some deck shoes with foot pad inserts. I got both at Wally World for about 15 bucks. Inexpensive inserts work fine.

And if you have to get up in the middle of the night don't go barefooted that is the worst thing you can do. Go see you a good foot doctor and he will take care of you that is the best advice anyone can give you.

Ibuprofen! I have had plantar facititus for several years. Orthopedist prescribed 800mg ibuprofen and it was a miracle drug! (Note: if someone says "just take 4 of the 200mg"..NOT! ) Something about the whammy of all 800 in one pill is more effective). Requires Dr prescription and most insurances will cover and there is a generic. Pop one every morning and one in the evening for a few days and now I only take one if it flairs up.
Still cannot go barefoot, but if I wear shoes with a good arch and padding in the heel, I'm good. Crocs are goo for around the house. Just got a pair of EasySpirit boots and they are great!

Don't sleep with your shoes on. That usually helps.

you need to see a dr. about your feet. it could be your back that is the problem and not your feet. do not take it lightly. go to a dr sooner than later.

Don't let a foot doctor put steroid shots in your foot to me that makes the plantar fascitis worse. And if you are on your feet a lot that makes it worse. Find you a good foot doctor out of town that is the best advice I could give you.

Do you have someone to rub them?

The WalMart option is a good first start to address plantar fasciitis. And it may actually help. But be aware. The WalMart option isn't as accurate in fitting the orthontics to your feet. Specialty places, such as Good Feet, etc will have you step into a foam mold to fit your foot. This results in a better fit vs. WalMart. Doctors (podiatrists) will typically take a plaster mold of your foot in order to fit the proper orthontics and usually results in the best fit. If you have insurance to cover the expense of the latter two options, the final cost will not be much more than what you will pay at WalMart. This is FYI. Good luck!

My husband has plantar fasciitis & is also flat footed. He was told to use a frozen bottle of water & roll it back & forth under the arch of his foot while watching TV. As simple as this sounds, when he does this his foot doesn't hurt quite so bad the next day.

I had the same problem. The Dr. Scholl's custom fit orthotic inserts did the trick for me. They have the machine in Wal-Mart in the pharmacy area. You stand on it and it tells you which ones to buy. They are not cheap though, the cost is from $40 to $50! My doctor recommended that I try them. Once you know which ones to buy, you can go on e-bay and get them cheaper. Usually about half of what they are in the store.

If the heel or lower arch hurts after resting but seems to feel better after you have been on your feet a while, you probably have plantar fasciitis. It is important to have that treated before it gets worse. Typically, fitted orthontics are prescribed and work well to alleviate the problem. If you allow the inflammation to get worse, it can become chronic and much more difficult to treat.

Try to soak your feet and remove all the dead skin where it hurts.
Or try to get a pedicure about once a month, if nothing is medically wrong
this works like a charm.
