Any idea how the roads are between Boomer and Winston-Salem? That is, 18 from Boomer to Wilkesboro and 421 from Wilkesboro to Winston-Salem.

Rain is coming down in Boone / Jefferson and it is like 40 degrees.
I usually get two 40 pound bags of ice melt to use when we get the nasty weather. It helps to dry off the long drive to the highway. I am the only one that does anything to clear off the road so people can get in here http://www.sunflower-soap.c...0_2810.JPG

About noon, I told my wife "it looks fine out. I'm going to the mailbox". That's the thing about ice. It LOOKS fine! I almost slid down several times on my way to the mailbox (across the road from my house). Once I started back across the road, I heard a car coming...and began to pray...because the road was so slick I knew if I ran, I'd fall!

I've only seen my little neck of the woods, but it's slick here still! Or it was a couple of house ago...and at 25 degrees, it didn't seem to be improving! (In Boomer)

Scanner folks, are you hearing a lot of wrecks still being called out or has the emergency traffic slowed down?
