It is nice to see that they might actually pass a "shall issue" carry law in NC, Apparently the average North Carolina pro-gun person isn't too bright because they were duped into believing that NC already had shall-issue when it is may-issue. What exists at this time is a joke and the NC liberals totally won the day when they manipulated people into thinking a re-worded may-issue law was a shall-issue law. The current law says the sheriff "shall" issue the permit but then says the sheriff "shall" have no liability for not issuing a permit under the law. Those of you with kids try telling them that they shall clean their rooms but there will be no consequences if they don't and see what happens. Then the existing law goes on to say that the State shall not be a party to any subsequent litigation for a sheriff's failure to act under the law and that the matter shall be settled with finality at the local court level. In thirty years as a legal student. scholar, and professional - I have never before seen a State law where the State dealt itself out of enforcing its own law. You get an anti-carry sheriff and an anti-carry local judge and you ain't getting no permit regardless of whether you qualify or not. Not to mention the expense of having to go to court even if the court does do the right thing. Any new law should not only allow a denial to be appealed fully into the State Appeals and Supreme Courts, but also should mandate that if a person who was wrongfully denied a permit ultimately prevails in court that the Sheriff who denied the permit shall be fully liable for ALL LEGAL EXPENSES incurred in appealing the denial. This is how it is done in other states that have real shall-issue and this is the only way to stop rogue sheriffs by making them pay for their refusal to follow the law.

I really don't know for sure but it has been blamed on us being in the bible belt the same way that alcohol sales were against the law.

Not only are gun owners under attack in this country but self defense is also under attack. Everyone who values self defense and hunting rights needs to call their legislators and tell them to vote yes on all these bills.

Rep. Jeffrey Elmore. 919-733-5935
Sen. Shirley Randleman 919-733-5743.
And tell them vote YES!

There really no reason why someone who pays for a hunting license shouldn't be able to hunt 7 days a week. You can fish, trap and archery hunt on Sunday's you should be able to gun hunt as well.

People are out of work, lacking proper healthcare, education is abysmal.
