teach them to play MacGyver,chain them to a tree then give them a bobbypen to pick the padlock. make it more interesting by packing so you can move unless they get free and stop you in-time

take them fishing @ the lake , there is a pier across from the Boomer road, nice place w/ picnic tables.

We have numerous parks and trails in Wilkes. Go to the park for the afternoon and pack a picnic. We go to the dam, the parkway, and sometimes Stone Mountain. My kids love the outdoors and would rather do something like that than go to an arcade or the movies.

Wilkes Art Museum is always free to the public. Your are never to young to learn to appreciate art.

Figure out how to help those less fortunate. Kids understand that. Perhaps make Christmas decorations or ornaments from old Christmas cards, etc for nursing homes or orphanages.

Rake leaves , have fun doing things that need done, You can't play 24/7 ,someone has to do it , it's a good learning experience

Things to do that don't cost a lot of money to keep kids busy while school is out, age range 7-16, preferably local..thanks
