Go by 45 degree(at Millers creek) , have them check the charging system before you spend any money . They will keep you wasting any money.

If it is not your battery, It's probably the voltage regulator.

BTW, your battery is probably dead. If it's lasted since 98 that's AWESOME. Colder weather seems to put old batteries in the dirt. There is probably some science behind it but I don't know how to science.

Touch both battery cables to your tongue after you get it running.

You oughta check into a battery tender. You can get one for about $50 and it'll keep you riding year around. Easier on the bike and you too.

Take the battery to Nathan's Batteries tomorrow and have him check it. Plus he's the cheapest around on batteries.

I know what you mean I had one, sold it and wish now I'd kept it. Cool bikes but they've sky rocketed the prices now, just not worth what they ask for them now.

Mr Metal, if you can get it to start (Harley), ride it to one of the Auto Parts stores, Advance, Auto Zone, they can check your charging system easy enough. Your battery is done, that's a given.

If you took the battery out and charged it overnight, it probably is the battery. Take the battery to one of the automotive stores and have it checked would be my advice.

Anyone on here tell me. how to check the charging system on an 1998 harley sprortster?my battery is dead from not charging when the bike is running. i charged the battery over night. put it back in the bike and it was still dead. its the original battery, guess its bad. gonna buy a new one. but i need to check and see if the bikes alternator or whatever it is on the bike that charges the battery. thanks in advance for any help.
