i know what he is going through. my record is 5 times worse than his is. i suggest that if he is at least 21. to consider truck driving school at caldwell community college. there are many many trucking companies out there. that will look beyond his criminal record. IF that dui is more than 5 years old. if not, dont waste your time. trucking companies frown on fresh dui's. hope i helped you and him out some.

Possibly try some of the local roofing companies. They are always busy this time of year and they may need some extra help.

If it's just a minor offense and he was young when it occurred than you should see a lawyer about having an expungement. This will wipe his record clean, but it will cost about $2,000 to have it done.

How did he make it to 22 without already having a job? If he was not in college he should already have some good references. Even if he attended college he should have had some work experience and references.

Do not pity the boy. Misdemeanors are rarely a hindrance for employment in any occupation. I am speaking from experience. He can do anything he wants to do if he tries.

If he is thinking of going into the military and he has a minor record you can talk to the recruiter and see if he can get the record cleared up.I know somebody they done that as part of the cdeal to get the boy in the military but it can not be a felony and there can not be too many violations

Being a part of the U.S. Army requires a background check. Additional investigation may be necessary to gain higher levels of security clearance. While some law violations may be determined acceptable, you must disclose all violations, to include juvenile offenses, with an Army Recruiter to determine your qualifications for enlistment. Law violations can affect job selection and security clearances

There are plenty of construction jobs in Charlotte. Those companies usually hire about anyone as long as you can work and get there.

He has apps in every where Belkin,Statesville,Winston, even Charlotte..it's just a waiting game for him now..it is frustrating for a 22yr old when no one will give him a chance..all these places say they have openings and ones he's qualified for but no calls..and for whoever said he won't do just any job..that's NOT TRUE..he is willing to do whatever..and whatever it takes to prove himself.

If he cannot find a job in Wilkes and surrounding area, maybe try High Point. Wilkes is not job friendly.

Repub-we-can (view profile) | There are so many jobs in America that some are swimming the Rio Grande just to get one. We welcome all these new applicants with open arms because they are doing jobs your friends son will not do. Like jobs at Tyson etc. Too bad that all those coming across the border have squeaky clean criminal record, (or at least that is what they say and we don't have a system in place to check THEM.
|
On this, you and I actually agree. If a company will hire an illegal immigrant, then they'll hire someone with a criminal record, as long as he can get to work and do the job for cheap.

I am not sure the military will take him. Do you know it is hard to get into the military? They have the pick of the crop and are particular who they take now. My grandson joined the army over a year ago.. He had a lot of testing and they do strict medical testing.. if they think he has a problem with alcohol they will turn him down. I hope he is intelligent. Why did he resist? He has made a lot of problems for himself.. Is this his first DUI? Tell him those DUI's turn into a felony at some point so he needs to stay straight. I know I sound harsh, but I hope he has learned..gets a job and turns things around for himself. I wish him well in the future.
