All the people involved in football don't need or deserve multi million dollar salaries .

Start teams that aren't over-paid bullies, if it's a game , bring it down to earth !

People don't understand what taxes do or what they are for, and they don't know who they benefit the most from having them. The corporations use tax paid public schools to educate the workers in their factories, they ship their products on tax paid roads. They are protected by the police, fire dept., and military. They directly profit from a government that imposes taxes.

Corporations have moved operations overseas and no longer require a great education system, they have shifted the educational costs onto the private citizen, and this is why we have enormous student loan debt massing. People with a bachelor's degree are barely getting above minimum wage. corporations have a ability to hire these college grads and pay them low wages because the market is saturated with them.

So when politicians talk about "cutting taxes" or "tax breaks" they are almost never talking to the citizens. This is why we have a defended, education system, crumbling infrastructure, and at the opposite end, a beefed up police and military force.

I knew the NFL was a non-profit organization a long time ago.

I didn't think Goodell could get out of paying taxes on his salary though.

I've watched and enjoyed football since high school. After all the stupidity and criminal activity of the pros, i'm through with them.

I think employees of non profits are subject to income taxes

It is hard to believe that the socialistic politicians can instill such venomous hatred to common people as there is in the democrat party. Hate all those who are successful because they have achieved it on the backs of others is the attitude I see here. Thus society must punish them by taking it from them and giving it to all who have failed to show enough ambition to support themselves. Clones

Repub you are making less and less sense- are we supposes to applaud people who " have achieved success on the backs of others ?"

This is at a corporate level. Goodell is not exempt from anything.

This 501(c)(6) status is giving them a get out of jail free card for local and state taxes too. That means that employees of the NFL don't have to pay sales tax or state income taxes. Not a bad gig if you can get it, right??

The usual collectivist suspects, playing the usual class-warfare crapola on their commie fiddles.

All the NFL teams are for-profit businesses. All the (high-priced) executives and players pay income taxes on their salaries.

The NFL front office only, is set up as a non-profit.

You indicated Goodell didn't pay any taxes. I didn't see anything that discussed his personal income tax situation.

bluebird, refer to the "Obama starting a phony war thread" for the answer to our question.

For all of you who constantly talk about the liberals abuse of welfare, why have I never seen you complain about the NFL not paying federal taxes? Goodell himself made 29 million in 2012 and did not have to pay a dime in fed taxes on it.

So you are saying Roger Goodell did not pay income taxes? Not buying it. Cough up some proof.

I'm betting that more people don't know that the NFL is a welfare queen, than does know it.

How can the NFL be tax exempt?
