Home Depot and Lowe's......No difference.
Anywhere you have both store's you will see employees going back and forth between stores. I worked for Lowe's for years. I knew as many employees at Home Depot as I did at Lowe's.
Use to say the employees kept a path worn out in the grass going from store to store.
Far as Lawnmowers, it just depends on which company is going to give the retailer the better deal the next year. Whoever offers the store's the best deals, well that's what mower the store going to carry.
Next time you in a store, raise the sit on a Cub Cadet and see who it's made by. Might just say MTD.
Only couple different companies even make mowers.
Still yet I would rather you spend your money at Lowe's, least I do have small amount of stock left

Whether a Home Depot locates in Wilkes or not, has absolutely nothing to do with land owners, any action by town/county government officials, or other clandestine fabricated fables. Like any business, expansion plans are built upon whether a location's demographics can support their business sufficient to return a profit. In the case of another home center in Wilkes, it ain't happening! But a few paranoid members of GoWilkes have an overwhelming need to share their ongoing conspiracy obsessions with others.

Oh woweee.I am having a moment that I do not want to believe. Springtime has a statement I actually will agree with... well partially anyways.
There are a group of people who own land, and will or will not let others lease it. The terms of the lease will determine what you can and cannot have on the property. This is a way of limiting competition, and letting the bigger dogs have first chance at the food bowl before the others get anything.

Now If you want to talk about Lowe's as a concept, that is a totally different thread altogether. My brief 2 years as an employee at the store and as a person working in the IT department, showed me the company has much to desire.

Nope they might be in Atlanta but the home office of Home Depot no Lowes can be in that community I was not misinformed came st8rt to me from people that work or worked for Lowes it is a mutual agreement if it had not been mutual then Home Depot would have built here long time ago. Believe what you will I am not arguing nor care have not been impressed with Home Depot no more than Lowes.

Well, Blessed, being that Home Depot is based out of Atlanta, and there are multiple Lowes stores in the Atlanta area, you are misinformed.

smalltownwoman, I've been in multiple Lowes and Homedepot stores all over the south east. And nearly every Lowes store had a different layout, while most Home Depot's were consistent. It reminded me of circuit city trying to fight Best Buy on Best Buy's terms instead of focusing on their own model. Home Depot will end up eating lowes because lowes is always playing second fiddle.

Home Depot can put in a store in the town if Home offices no better than Lowes can not put in a store in the where the home offices of Home Depot are. That is the deal between both parties

The county will never let a Home Depot locate in Wilkes. They won't even let business locate in Wilkes that would raise the wages Lowes has to pay. Tysons and Lowes owns Wilkes and our fearless government leaders are in their pockets.Springy, you do know that the county has absolutely no say in the matter? It's between Home Depot and the owner of the property.

You would be surprised how much say the county has in who opens a business in Wilkes. There are a number of ways the county can make it so hard to find a location and can make it so costly the business will not open. Water drainage is one thing. Building permits another. Taxes is another. Sewer connection and run off is another. Then there is zoning. You are totally wrong when you say the county don't have a say so.

lowes has better quality stuff than H D

Not necessarily, Lowe's has good stuff but you can get better lumber at home depot plus Home Depot sells Milwaukee tools and Kline, the kobalt tools are good but the Husky and ridged tools seem to be great quality too.

I'm not to sure about them having better quality stuff. Last year I bought some # 2 lumber at HD that was way better than the #1 that Lowes had

Most Lowes follow the same layout in their stores, the stores in Greensboro, High Point, Salisbury, Winston-Salem all have identical footprints.

I got a riding mower from homedepot.com about three years ago. Saved some money and it's been a good one.

One thing about Home Depot is that they are much better at having a standard layout. Some older stores Ave different floor plans, but most are consistent form store to store. I think Lowes has a different layout in every frigging store they build.
