Yes. People leave their property unsecured, or possibly very secured, and then thieves rob them of their property. This results in what is known as a "stolen firearm."

WOULD THAT MEAN FIREARMS PURCHASED BY GUN NUTS WHO THEN TAKE THEM HOME AND SUBSEQUENTLY LEAVE THEM UNSECURED AND HAVE THEM STOLEN WHEN THEY ARE BROKEN INTO?

I believe that would be a firearm procured by means that are less than the laws require to be legally procured. Just a guess.

That's interesting anti and skeptic.
Skeptic's link is actually using population in individual states vs average number of firearms owned nationally, or do I misread that?
Antithesis' link says these conclusions were based on a per capita basis though. So maybe those states do not actually have the most or the least?
87% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Which states have the most gun related deaths?
1. Louisiana 2. Mississippi 3. Alaska 4. Wyoming 5. Montana
Which states have the lowest levels of gun related deaths?
Rhode Island Hawaii Massachusetts New York New Jersey Connecticut New Hampshire Iowa Minnesota Wisconsin
I thought that was interesting. For all we've heard about it being dangerous, New York is one of the safest states in the US! We should be a lot more concerned about Louisiana.
In comparison to other countries, though, the US has one of the highest gun related death rates:
"The nationwide gun death rate was 10.38 per 100,000. The total number of Americans killed by gunfire rose to 32,351 in 2011 from 31,672 in 2010," it found. "America's gun death ratesboth nationwide and in the statesdwarf those of most other Western industrialized nations. The gun death rate in the United Kingdom in 2011 was 0.23 per 100,000 while in Australia it was 0.86 per 100,000."
