Clinton, being new to the job, decided to exercise his authority early in the Somali debacle. When the Rangers asked for more support and equipment, it was denied by Clinton. When our eighteen Rangers were slaughtered due to lack of support, Clinton decided to cut bait and run.
Seems to be an on-going them with the Clintons when Americans are in harms way !!!

The Clinton white house changed the Somalia misson from a relief effort to hunt for the warlords. He was running the show when the Black Hawk down mission happened. And it was his decision not to send armored vehicles' or C130 gunships as was requested by the commander on scene weeks before the battle.

Get a grip, Marie. The article is recent. We are talking about Bush in the 90's. Of course we knew there was oil then, which you deny, but oil is funny like that. It hasn't moved.

Yes I do.
That statement had nothing to do with Somalia. Just the fact that oil companies will drill anywhere that oil exist.
And if you are implying it's easy to drill under the ocean floor. Maybe you should visit the Gulf Region.

Somalia is confident it will be producing oil within a few years, but given the planned development of oil and gas .....
That's the beginning of the part you quoted. LoL.

Caja & Bestill:::: read entire article. You just can't depend on "Headlines" to tell you the whole story. Is that the way you read a book, look at title & you're through, put it back on shelf? PITIFUL.

I could fly to the moon in a helicopter and set up a wh*re house on a street paved with gold for less money than the Bush spent. $100 bills every second for the next 437 years.

The price of oil may have fallen off a cliff recently, but that has not deterred energy giants like Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell, BP and Chevron from reactivating plans to drill in Somalia.
That's the first sentence.
And of course, as Marie should know, back then, Somalia had given the American Oil giants almost two thirds of their land. Problem was the war, where that pro American dude was overthrown it got bad creepy for the oil companies and America needed to overthrow the bad dude that did not want Americans up in his oil and so America and ConocoPhillips got together and look what happened. Remember the war cry? The only good Somalian is a dead somolian.
