First thing is to slow down. If it's safe to do so and you feel compelled to, pull over somewhere, but not in a blind curve or just over a hill. If you're on an interstate don't stop in the fast lane of travel and get out of your car to video the procession.

It's a nice show of respect for a family that is burying their loved one. Respect for others is something the world needs a lot more of.

I wonder who gets the ticket if you jam on your brakes and get rammed from behind. My guess is the one who stopped gets charged for unsafe movement

I'd dare say, the one who hit you from behind, would be the one who gets the citation....it matters not why, you should always be alert to the vehile in front of you.

did I say that the reason I do it is because of superstition? I just stated that I read an article and this is where the tradition started, because of superstitions. Just a fact.

simple solution. "ban" automobiles if they are causing wrecks.

Surely there aren't people that actually get irate over something that takes less then one minute of their time? I've set at stop lights that take longer then a funeral procession. If you let every little interruption in life bother you enough to actually give it this much of your time, then you will have a troubled life. Sometimes you just have to put things into perspective. Someone died. A family is mourning the loss of a loved one and you are not. Not today. Be thankful.

PLEASE... read the drivers manual ... if you are going to stop get your butt completely off the road as NOT to impede the movement of traffic. If the LEO"S would only enforce the law.

"I read about this a few years ago. It is actually done because of old superstitions."

This may be true for you and a handful of other people, but certainly not for me. I couldn't care less about any ancient associated tradition. I do it to express respect.

The point is that this tradition was probably started because of these old superstitions and was originally not a show of respect.

There are a lot of tales about almost everything in life. Most people, including myself, still view it as a sign of respect for the family and the deceased.
