I guess the State does not have a prohibition against hiring folks with a criminal record., not all businesses are afforded that opportunity, Healthcare organizations who have folks working in Nursing Homes and in patients homes may not hire folks with that type of record according to Federal regulations.
Good for this guy.

An acquaintance of mine recently sold the state of NC a bunch of swamp land for over $2 million. He bought it about 5 years ago based on inside info about the state's long-term watershed and parkland set-aside maps.
The eviro-whackos hired someone to write up a report that said this was sensitive land bc of Spanish moss, or something. And. Must. Be. "PRESERVED"!
Voila! He tripled his money!
Stuff like that goes on every single day in this state.
Bear in mind, I didn't approve of his deal. And rebuked him for being greedy.

He must have made a good impression at the State Capital. So hard to find employment with any felonies. It's no wonder so many return to criminal activities.

So what does the fact that the person is workkng and earning a living have to do with the fact he's an ex-con. Would you prefer he returned to a life of crime. If he's like most folks and has a family $55k isn't really that much money

He paid for his crime.
His job and salary are not a slap in the face to anybody.
You do sound jealous.

I worked with a person within the Department of Transportation that had served 9 years of a 23 year sentence for felony Robbery with a dangerous weapon..within a few months of his release he had a a postion at the NCDOT. He, as do many inmates clean a variey of state offices and facilities. He cleaned at the State Capitol.
He has no college education. Today his salary is above $56,000.00. I am not jealous, but this is a slap in the face of many people who have positions in other jobs within the State of North Carolina......
Maybe my opinion is wrong..
Many teachers will work many years to get to that point.
Just for anyones information, prison records and state employee salaries are public information and easily available, unless it was/ is a minor. His present age is upper 50's..
