Just to ensure my post isn't misconstrued - my point is simply that I could care less who uses what benifits just so that if/when you use them- you use them in a responsible manner and with a conquering heart so that one day, you as a taxpayer can give back to a community that has helped others . I feel that schools are not teaching an in depth curriculum like they did years ago but that only limits those who don't desire to expand their education. To the family / teens listed in this post- only you can determine your future and your success or lack thereof. Only you will be the responsible persons that reap success or strife, all based off of your decisions... Not the decisions that landed you in the situation that you are in, but the decisions that lie ahead of your journey in life. I sincerely extend wishes of an abundant future to you all but just know that many obstinate lie ahead... But they are only obstacles - not permanent road blocks. Lastly, we all make mistakes - some big and some small, but nonetheless, at least you avoided an abortion - regardless the age or irresponsibility that some deem the method that birthed the child, the child is innocent in this all and deserves the same great life that any newborn child deserves. As the years unfold ahead, and the child grows, only you can teach him/her to be fruitful at heart and instill values , even if you veered from self values as deemed by others . Good Luck!

Well, Wic and Medicaid has the baby's welfare taken care of. Now in other news, maybe Pell Grants at the local Harvard on the Yadkin can help seceral of these posters decifer what highschool obviously isn't teaching:
The proper uses for There, Their, and They're / Wear and Where / To, Two, and Too , only to name a few !!!! And last but not least, economic structuring classes where one can learn about taxes that fund the unfortunate.

Characteristics Associated with Adolescent Childbearing

Numerous individual, family, and community characteristics have been linked to adolescent childbearing. For example, adolescents who are enrolled in school and engaged in learning (including participating in after-school activities, having positive attitudes toward school, and performing well educationally) are less likely than are other adolescents to have or to father a baby.[9] At the family level, adolescents with mothers who gave birth as teens and/or whose mothers have only a high school degree are more likely to have a baby before age 20 than are teens whose mothers were older at their birth or who attended at least some college. In addition, having lived with both biological parents at age 14 is associated with a lower risk of a teen birth.[10] At the community level, adolescents who live in wealthier neighborhoods with strong levels of employment are less likely to have or to father a baby than are adolescents in neighborhoods in which income and employment opportunities are more limited.[9]

People have been having kids young for hundreds of years. I bet some of you guys grand parents, great grandparents, great-great.. Well you get the point.. Anyway, It's no different now than it was then. People have just become more judgmental. It hasn't changed and it never will. Quit acting so surprised that it happens.

Its great, they are taking care of their child. I just dont think the school should have let her carry her kid during the parade. She doesnt need to be promoting the wrong choices.

baseballmom: I just want to say that unexpected illness/accident/disability is a different issue.

Pregnancy IS avoidable!

Poor judgment on the participants' part should NOT result in punishment for taxpayers!

I have no way of knowing for sure if these teenage parents get welfare or not. That being said:

One teenage pregnancy is an ACCIDENT.

Two pregnancies are a PATTERN.

Three pregnancies and you are on YOUR OWN.

IF YOU CANNOT FEED THEM, DON'T BREED THEM.

If you have chosen to be in this category, you are parasites and we taxpayers don't like it at all.

I'm just sayin, this is for you I grew up on public assistance and that wasn't by choice,I grew up in the projects and I'm not downing growing up there in a lot of aspects it made me a better person but when I turned 18, graduated I left the projects and promised if I ever had a family I would work my arse off to keep from ever having them grow up in the projects and live off the system!!! Well yes I did get married and had 3 children and I have never lived in the projects again and have never lived off of the system and that's something I happen to be very proud of,not downing anyone who needs it but just wanted to let you know I worked from a teenager up until my middle sons health declined and he became disabled and I had no choice but to quit my job of 15 years,my husband has worked very hard to provide for his family over the years by himself,we had to make a lot of sacrifices but God has blessed us with a roof over our head and we've never gone hungry so screen name I'm just sayin, you haven't gave my family s---, you should think before you speak arse hole!!!!!!

One of the mothers if one if the children said they get Medicaid and WIC. The mother of the boy that keeps knocking different girl up says its tax dollars well spent . His current baby mama says his first baby was conceived when he was 14 years old . And says they PLAN to have more children . IF HE / AND THE 2 MOTHERS HAD TO STRUGGLE TO PAY FOR THE CHILDREN THEY ALREADY HAVE,there would be no more thought of another .

Medicaid is funded by the federal government & the state. Sure it's related to taxes too but what the heck does it matter? There's other people besides teenagers having babies such as adults. It's life! When you have kids one day I hope you remember everything you're saying & I hope you feel like a jerk! Babies are a precious thing in life. They're a blessing from God. <3

"what the heck does it matter?"

Now, that's a immature, reckless and irresponsible thing to say...
