I've never eaten at Dodge City but it was there 30+ years ago when i worked at Chatham, so they must be doing something right!

Dodge City in Elkin is wonderful. Best local place to get a good steak.

Dodge City, huh? Interesting name; here's hoping that this new place can make a go of it.

I just left Dodge City in Elkin and was talking about it. The plan is to open in the fall, but things seem to be moving along nicely, so cross your fingers that it may be sooner

Captains Table was nice when Paul Wooten had it.

I would rather see a good seafood place than anything in Wilkes, but I guess that's just wishful thinking, since we're so far from the ocean, only frozen seafood here.

Same owners as the one in Elkin?

Nothing better than a great steak, awesome salad, choice of baked potato (red potatoes) and some outstanding bread! Except maybe some great seafood. DA and a MN, now I am hungry!

Good point about 421. When i lived in Greensboro i hated traffic on Wendover Avenue and always tried to avoid it. Same reason i never go to places on 421. Who wants to risk life and limb for a meal?

Restaurants are going to be where the most traffic flows, to draw in crowds. Sorry, but 421 is where the people are. Why would a restaurant want to open where only locals are going to be driving to it, when they can open where there are plenty of out-of-towners riding through?

I would merely ask that it not be on 421 !

You know, one that has a chef that can actually cook a steak to order and one who doesn't drown it in Pepper Corns or other funky stuff because he's using inferior cheaper cut than what his menu offers. A good steak doesn't need to be drowned in sauces or seasonings, the Steak will speak for itself if cooked properly. A Chef who knows what Well Done, Medium and Rare actually means would be a real plus too.

Maybe this is To much to ask for.

I don't know but it would be nice to get a decent steak house!
