the only valid reason to hunt other than for food, is for fur.

Always felt like trophy hunting was strictly an ego thing. If you needed to hunt for food it would be different, like the early settlers and American Indians. Now who really needs to hunt for food?

Who really needs to raise a garden?

I'll bite.

What are we not paying attention to?

What concerns me is the attention that is being forced away from an even greater tragedy. Always look for the news they're not reporting.

I know that this is a big media deal, but the African lion isn't on the endangered list. And from what I can tell, this was a legal hunt, authorized by the government. It was just a case of him killing the wrong lion, which he claims to have had no knowledge about:

It's sad, sure, but would it have been less sad if he had shot some other lion?

no one is killing a child. Abortion is legal. Murder is not, empowers. Your son is not a POW, either.

While so many of us are slamming Dr. Palmer for killing an animal can't help but wonder when someone kills a helpless, defenseless child, where is the outcry? Makes me think the news of Palmer killing Cecil is a distraction away from the very important revelation about the horrors of Planned Parenthood. And as Planned 'Parenthood' has gone this far will there be a stopping point or will the culture of death extend out to include others who cannot help themselves? This has actually been happening already but much of it has been kept hushed up.

A nation is judged according to how many helpless and defenseless people are murdered..A nation is also judged on how well the helpless and defenseless are protected and defended.

We should return to jousting where something was settled by two strong men fighting in an arena. The two strong men would be a fair fight.

All those "trophy hunters" say that one reason they do it is to help with the conservation of the species, and that nothing is wasted from the animal. If that be the truth, one has to ask, why would an expert hunter (Palmer) join forces with a shady group of indiviuals who, left the whole carcass of the animal hanging from a tree. After beheading it and skinning it. No meat was provided to the starving people of Zimbabwe, because they don't do that.

This now brings to light that there is no distribution of meat, like they would like to have everyone believe. That the exuberant amount of money lies the pockets of the Zimbabwe people and its economy. It lined someones pockets the safari owner Theo Bronkhorst for one.

Of the lions killed in Zambabwe many have come from that sanctuary. The thing about this is, what people are deflecting from. The natural process of life in the animal kindgdom. Cecil had a pride consisting of 6 females and near 2 dozen cubs. Of which another male will take over. And when he does, he will kill all of the cubs, leaving no reminder of Cecil's genetics. So, it isn't just that Palmer killed one lion, he killed an entire lineage of a lion.

Great job, Palmer, they have increased police in his residential neighborhood not only for him, his family, but the whole neighborhood. Who is paying for the police salaries to cover this? Not Palmer. The FBI release this that he is dodging any contact with them regarding this and hasn't been heard from since his email apology to his patients Wednesday. They are stating they can't find him and question his wearabouts (as in is he in the country??) For such a upstanding pillar of the community, helping the world one smile at a time. Feeding the poor in Zimbabwe with his multiple hunts (Cecil being his 2nd lion kill and why did you need 2) ...were is the cowardly lion now??????

Just think how slow time must pass in a Zimbabwe prison.

Actually he pled to that deal. He pled to 18 months and the additional was tacked on due to drug use.

Just in case anyone wants to read up on it.

ok I stand corrected
He spent his time in Leavenworth, because he got busted smoking pot right before sentencing and federal charges allow free drug rehabilitaion, so he wouldn't have to serve in the state. Thus, shaving a year off his sentence...Gotcha..ok sorry my mistake

Trophy hunting is an abominable practice. Referring to this as a "sport" is laughable.

Personally, I don't think Vick served enough time and I certainly lost all respect for the Falcons for jumping to snatch him up.

If he broke the local laws he should be accountable. Legal, ethical, sustainable hunting depends on following the rules.
