If it wasn't generally a "good experience", vendors wouldn't be filling spaces throughout the town.

I set up at the Apple Festival for about three years and did really well. The fee was $175 for a spot on Main Street. The last year I did it, it really wasn't worth my time by that point b/c it takes all day, I have small kids, and I was just burned out on the festival thing.

It was always a good experience.

Have you thought of renting a booth at the cattle sale? I'm sure their fees are much more reasonable and you would be targeting a lot of folks that appreciate your homemade products. Just a thought.

If it's the charity part that interests you, save yourself a heat stroke and the trauma of dealing with crowds of people, and just donate to your favorite charity. Stay home from that fiasco and quilt!

What kind of material do you quilt with. We are moving soon and I may can donate clothing for fabric as opposed to taking them to goodwill.

Here's a thought; how about all you that are griping and complaining about the Apple Festival and how it's run, start your own festival and then you will see firsthand it's not as easy as filling out an application or making a phone call.

Now that's just sad to hear daisy, I do think they should help the locals also but I don't think any city it town cares about it people other then what they can get out of the people who would pay double then what other can afford locally.

I am from Wilkes and I do festivals every Summer and I have to say I love doing them. We tried the Apple festival and they put us down next to the CBD loop which is next to the car show and not a good location. We will not do the Apple Festival again. There are many good shows the same weekend that give you decent spots and you are not crammed together. Our sales were fair but I would not say good since we were in a bad spot. I was disappointed to say the least. We also sent our application in early to make sure we got a decent spot. I would have expected more for locals but I guess that doesn't matter to Wilkes. I would not recommend the Apple Festival.

Black Rose, I know there are vendors at Benton Hall on Saturdays. Have been there once. They sell all kinds of crafts. Will try to find out how you can get in touch with them.

Rose , you said you might set up in Melody Square.

You should try that , and the fact that your work is done by hand should be a selling point for you.

Good luck

No, it's not that I want a business but I want to try a 1 time thing. I wouldn't be able to fill out so many orders.I do all my by hand.At the time I wanted to sell something and of course make a little money but not run a business. It would be like one of those things in which you can have a 1 time event within community. I don't know anything about marketing.

Events like this work several ways.

You get to sell some product while getting to network and make your business or self known.

If one is going there thinking that one is going to sell a product and walk away with bags full of money the the one has a bad thinking error.

It wouldn't matter Abraham, I won't be able to if I can't get in contact with brushy mountain before which I dought I will as it's the end of the day. I'm here to please buyers who would apprecait the work.I'm not being mean or mad at you but I think I'll go over to melody square and see if I can talk to someone who might be over the parking lot. I see a lot of people down there selling and vendors so maybe I still have a chance.

Thank you Hope, I have tried, they did give me a link but the email I got is the reason why I am mad. Every time I email them who ever is behind the desk would ignore my questions on fees and when I decided to just call and ask about it personally the machine says email them and all I can leave is a message. I don;t much care of Che is, but he has no right to act as if the charity group is to good for anyone. That makes them look bad, I didn't know about the charity group but was told that the town was over the apple festival. He insults the charity group by showing his *** off and I hope they fire him.People like that kinda trash don't need to privileged to work for others who need help.

Rose...take a deep breath. Che is probably somehow affiliated with the Brushy Mountain Ruritans, and HAVE been rather insulting to them in this thread. They are a legit, well known group. I understand that you are upset that you couldn't get the fee schedule, but I'm not even sure you were calling the right people, were you? If you were, they should have directed you to the online information and application, but it looks as though July 1st was the last day to apply anyway. Either way, when you bash a charitable organization online like this, someone affiliated is probably going to get upset, and it's hard to blame them.
