Another example of why people distrust and have no respect for the police.

The burden of being at the right address should be on the Barneys. If they screw up, hang them

This incident proves it's very important to have your address clearly marked in daylight and at night. Many people have died over the years because the cops busted down the wrong door. Some street and road signs are missing for years before some delivery man points it out.

Don't police usually carry their AR's in the trunk? So the cop had to have time to open the trunk, get the rifle, and then shoot the dog that was trying to attack him through a fence.

When they pull along beside me I go ahead and run my moped over in the ditch and pretend I'm dead until the ambulance gets there.

The problem with a suit is it is not the cop that pays it, it is the tax payer. Here in Wilkes a few years ago the Wilkes county tax payers paid a guy over $500,000.00 because our fine police force gang beat a guy in Moravian Falls. The cops go Conan and we, the tax payers, pay for it.

Automatic guns are a big part of the problem, our own Highway Patrol shot more people in the first 9 months of use of the 9mm's than they had in the previous five years with revolvers. Thankfully they did get it figured out and have not been shooting people near as much. That said I agree officers need to understand the situation and it is foolish to shoot folks over petty crimes just like it is foolish to engage in high speed chases over traffic offenses. However murder, armed robbery, etc, officers need to use force as necessary. It should be a position of honor and respect and when officers violate common sense they should at least loose there jobs.

A joke:

A DEA officer stops at a ranch in Wyoming, and talks with an old rancher. He tells the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs."

The old rancher says, "Okay, but do not go in that field over there" as he points out the location.

The DEA officer verbally explodes saying, "Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me. Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removes his badge and proudly displays it to the farmer. See this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish on any land. No questions asked or answers given. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?"

The old rancher nods politely, apologizes, and goes about his chores.

A short time later, the old rancher hears loud screams and sees the DEA officer running for his life, chased close behind by the rancher's prize bull. With every step the bull is gaining ground on the officer, and it seems likely that he'll get horned before he reaches safety. The officer is clearly terrified.

The old rancher throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs. "Your badge! Show him your badge!"

It should be a fact of law that LE has no authority to enter, remain, or be upon private property unless the commission of a crime is in progress.
As to warrants, they are to easy to get. Judges have become nothing but automated signing for about anything.

A simple check of current databases would have shown the ID of the current residents. Much like a pair of cheap *** field glasses would have shown the officers in Florida what the mentally handicapped person had in his hand.

LE wonders why the public has such a low opinion.

LE takes simple misdemeanor warrants to be served with a SWAT team.

LE no longer trys to make contact with people. They show up and demand or walk right in.

The days of LE being exempt from the same laws as the rest need to come to an end. Government employee or not if you screw up you are held accountable like the rest of the poor people.

LE has built their own barrier between the people and themselves not the other way around.

The pay and standards for becoming a LEO of any type should be raised considerably to more than graduating a 6 week course. It should include a four year degree, complete psych exam with an outside private party, agility courses, training in deescalation of situations, humanity, human relations, and many many more. If the job requires and gives the person the use of death as an option in the performance of their occupation then they should be held to the levels of responsibility and training of doctors if not more.

The days of hiring anyone that graduates the 6 week course needs to end. Teachers are held to higher standards.

One thing that needs to happen to some is "check the attitude at the door" along with the mentality of "i got a badge".

I have high respect for those who do the job and do it well. \

Counties talk about budgets when it comes to salaries, well get out of the recreation business there is some money.

Boy I smell a lawsuite and I hope they sue the liven **** out of the pig. Take every dime you can, he was behind a closed in fence, just another trigger happy shooting moron thinking this is a war. What would have happened if their was a child and he shot it? Now that's even worse. Need to remove his badge and puthis face on public display so the community knows what kinda jerk he is.
