new phone and questions

The Elkin store was closed today so I went to Wilkesboro. After spending an hour in the store and a new phone, the pictures synced perfectly to my contact list. I guess I had a dud phone! The lady says that sometimes happens.

try this

Go into your facebook app, go to friends and scroll through you friends (you will see it updates each friends picture - and its doing it in your contacts as well. no need for another program hopefully.

I guess I will have to do what you suggested. There doesn't seem to be any other way. I contacted customer support today and the lady said that was not an option. I just wonder if there is an app that would let me do it. I just don't know how to search for those things.

only thing I know you can do is manually download each picture and set it to their picture. I know it may take a while to do this depending on how many friends you have, but it's one way to do it.

I found out that if I click edit contact and then click the android monster, it says I can select a picture from the gallery or take a picture. I wonder why I can't select their FB photo??? ARRRRGGG..

still not showing their picture...I want to see something besides the little android monster :)

I just did the sync with existing contacts... thanks!

also you should be able to have facebook to be able to sync only existing contacts. It will create some duplicates, but you can delete the duplicates. Go to the contact you want to merge and then edit the contact, see if there's a way to merge the contact with the facebook profile.

try this. I was reading around and this should work for your phone as well.

First, go to your Contacts, then Display Options and click "show all contacts" under each e-mail address (one of them should be your Facebook logon). Then go through your contacts list, pick the name you want to get rid of, Edit Contact, and click "Join", then pick the name you want to keep in your phone.

If you do it the other way around it picks the Facebook name, not the real name.

And then, of course, uncheck "Show All Contacts" under your Facebook e-mail and it will hide all of those unnecessary contacts.

I think these apps are doing what my phone does automatically...linking ALL my FB contacts to my phone. This is what I'm trying to avoid. I just want to link the contacts I have in my phone. I am not sure if these apps link only the existing contacts.

Thanks...I'm checking them out now. I was hoping there was a feature in the phone but I guess I'll be downloading an app. I like seeing the person's pic in my contact list. I guess I'm weird :)

I bought an LG Ignite phone today and I cannot figure out how to link individual contacts to their facebook contact. I prefer not to sync it, as this takes so much space since I have so many FB friends. I was able to do this on my HTC Wildfire but so far I can't figure out a way. If you can help, send me a message!!
