If they show up but don't work, then it sounds like you have installed something that is inadvertently blocking Javascript. This is most likely an add-on of some sort.

I don't have Windows 8.1 as my video card is an older model and they haven't released a driver for it yet, so I'm stuck using Windows 8. I have no problems on Windows 8 viewing this forum. Maybe someone who has Windows 8.1 can chime in and suggest some more ideas that pertain to 8.1 and not 8.

Flash Player is actually built into Internet Explorer on Windows 8 and 8.1. There is nothing for you to download or install from Adobe.
Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools-Compability View Settings and add the website in question to the compatibility view list and then close the box. Refresh the page or exit and revisit the page and see what happens.
Does chrome give you the same symptoms that IE is giving?

I'm using IE and Google Chrome on this computer and I also noticed that youtube will not play on here. I checked everything you posted and downloaded the latest Adobe player and still nothing. Usually if you need to add software youtube shows you but it doesn't. I have had issues ever sense the guy I bought this laptop from upgraded Windows 8 to their latest version.

What browser are you using? Do you use internet explorer? If so, let's try to reset it to its default settings and see if it helps.
Click on Tools-Internet Options-Advanced. From there click on Reset and reset it back to it's default settings.

I only communicate with people on this site so I do not know if it's local or on any website. I don't do the whole social media thing. Thanks Chris you have helped me in the past and you know PC's. When I click on anything above or below were you type it does not make any changes. These do not work for me
