Lemon Drop Martini
Lemon Drop Martini

One of my "Signature Martinis", which I consider perfect for Spring. It's a little on the tart side, which makes it great for sitting outside on the porch on a warm day.

3 shots of Absolut Citron or Skyy Citrus vodka

2 shots of sweet and sour mix

1 shot of lemon juice

Enough sugar for the rim

Mix all ingredients together, then shake gently over ice (3 or 4 shakes at most) and strain into a martini glass. My glasses hold 6 shots, although I know that some only hold 5, so you may have to adjust the portions slightly.

I usually sugar the rim before straining the martini into the glass. This is a pretty sour drink, so the sugar helps knock off the tartness. To sugar the rim, pour sugar into a saucer that's bigger than the rim of the glass, then pour lemon juice into another saucer. Dip the rim of the glass into the lemon juice (just enough to moisten the rim), then dip it into the sugar. It takes a little practice to get it just right, but the sugar should stick to the lemon juice.

If the drink is too strong for you, try 2 shots of vodka, 2 shots of sweet and sour, and 2 shots of lemon juice.
