WILKES COUNTY AGRICULTURAL FAIR
Thanks to the North Wilkesboro Rotary Club, Wilkes County has an exceptional annual Agricultural Fair, where
all members of the family can have a fun and educational outing. The Rotary Club works very closely with the
Wilkes County Cooperative Extension Service to provide a variety of displays and exhibitions, which show the
county's many natural resources. As a visitor, you will see varieties of livestock, canned goods, hand crafted
quilts, and much more. Ribbons and cash awards will be presented to winners in these categories. Be sure to
visit the Exhibition Hall as well as the Livestock area. As well as the traditional fair exhibitions, the Rotary Club
always has a wide array of amusement park rides and games for all ages.
The 1998 Fair was held in its new home at the Worth Evan Tomlinson Park. The new location is on approximately
14 acres of land next to the West Park Medical Center. To get to the Fairground, turn off West D Street into West
Park Medical Center (formerly West Park Shopping Center). Go to the bottom of the street, turn left and go past
Cook's Sporting Goods.
The proceeds from the Agricultural Fair are dispersed among the many causes supported by the North Wilkesboro
Rotary Club. They contribute to most local United Way agencies, provide an annual scholarship, hold a Christmas
Party for all foster children in the county, and many others. If you haven't been to the Wilkes County Agricultural
Fair, or haven't been in several years, treat yourself and your family to a terrific outing. It's an event of which we
should all be proud.
