Total Score :
(5 out of 5 forks)

When the former restaurant that was in the building that is now known as Dooley's moved, there apparently were some hard feelings and many voiced their opinions stating they would most likely not try the new establishment that moved in. I had never eaten there under the previous name and I was a little dubious on whether to try it or not once it became a new business. I looked the menu up on gowilkes.com (by the way restaurant owners, this option is a great way to get new customers. I read the menus and decide to try new restaurants if I see something that sounds great) and it looked so good I decided I wanted to try it. I must admit I was a little intimidated and confused by the idea of whether it is more of a bar or a restaurant so I wanted to try it for lunch when the crowd would most likely be eating more than drinking. I waited and waited for the opportunity to go and finally the week before Christmas I talked my husband into trying it. We went in at about 2 p.m. on a Tuesday and the few patrons that were there were at the bar. This didn't bother me at all. The music was a little loud, but I didn't mind because I know that I am becoming a little more intolerant of it as I get older and I need to remember that loud music IS loved by many.

We sat down at a table and looked over the menu. There were so many things that sounded good that I didn't know what to choose. I DID know that I wanted the fried pickles. I had been craving them for almost a year, since I had first read about them on gowilkes.com. We ordered a basket of pickles and mushrooms as an appetizer plus an iced tea and a water. The tea was great.

The pickles and mushrooms arrived within minutes with Ranch dressing and they were awesome. My husband is not a big pickle eater, but he loved them. We ordered a cold roast beef sandwich with chips for me and my husband ordered a ham and turkey wrap with homemade chips. They were both delicious. I regretted not ordering the homemade chips after I tasted my husband's. He obviously loved his because he hesitated to share. The bill was @ $20.00. This was very reasonable considering we ordered an appetizer. My sandwich was only $5.95 and I believe my husbands was the same. Our waiter was awesome. He checked on us many times and kept our drinks filled.

I went home and told my daughter about how great the food was and about the fried pickles. She begged us to take her that very night, but we thought we might seem weird if we went to the same restaurant twice in one day. She continued to ask almost everyday when we would take her so she could try the pickles. We finally got a chance the next Tuesday. We went at around the same time. This time there was no music and it was very peaceful. I ordered the Hot French Dip with Aus Jous this time. We also ordered buffalo Bites and fried pickles as an appetizer. The appetizers once again arrived quickly and our sandwiches arrived almost immediately after we were done with the appetizers. My sandwich was $5.95 and was huge! It was even better than the cold roast beef sandwich. Our daughter loved the pickles and bites and her wrap. My husband had a cheeseburger and wolfed it down. Once again we had the same waiter and he was just as good. The food was wonderful and the service was great. My only complaint would be that the tea was not sweet enough, but it was not a "mealbreaker". Our bill this time was @ $30.00 because there were three of us. I consider this very reasonable for the quality of food and service we recieved. The score I give them is the highest you can give: five forks!! My only regret is that I waited so long to try this place. I will be back and I will probably go at night also and have a couple of drinks!

I have to admit that I've been meaning to write a review for Dooley's myself for months. I, too, had a great experience there, with the exception of the fact that it's all smoking. I had a quesadilla, and honestly thought it was one of the best that I had ever had.

If you like wine, ask for a glass of the St. Urbans-hof Riesling. This was by far the best wine I had ever tasted. I bought an entire bottle for $13.

Wishfull thinking
We (My husband and I) have been to Dooley's several times at night and enjoyed ourselves. We decided to order in one night and ordered and found the quality of the food was just as good as if we were eating it there. The wings are wonderful as well and much cheaper than Teds. My husband likes Dooley's wings better and I honestly didn't think he would ever find a place that he liked to order wings from other than Ted's. This situation works out great for me because Dooleys has a variety of things to choose from.

I have eaten at Dooley's twice since my last post. I decided to try it at night. My daughter and I went on Monday nights and it was just as good as during the day. Our food was excellent and the service was wonderful. It's a little hard to hear the waitress over the music, but who cares if the food is good? We love it. Will be going back again and again.

I don't like the ownership in particular.

My husband ate at Dooley's a coupel months ago. He ordered Buffalo bites with fires and a Tea. His bill was 13.50, not including the tip. He stated that the food was alrigth but would have been just as satisfied at McDonald's after he saw the bill for what he got, (this is saying alot since McDonald's is one of his least favorite places to eat also). His buddies at the company he works at has tried to get him to go back but for some reasone he chooses not to. Might be the fact that our debit card was charged twice for the same transaction, not sure though. the debit mix up was handled with a phone call, but not exactly the customer service he was hoping for.

Located in the heart of Wilkesboro, DOOLEY'S FINE DINING is the place to see and to be seen. The restaurant's staff is very attentive and also attractive. The ambience of the restaurant makes you feel as though you are in another world.
Head Chef Timothy Anderson specializes in nouvelle cousine. The Chef brings the textures and flavors of the food together in a collage of sheer beauty, that must be seen and tasted to believe. The Chef also brings to life Italian, Middle-Eastern, and Regional American cousine. The presentation of these and many other fine cousine is awe inspiring.
I give DOOLEY'S FINE DINING five forks. So if you want an escape from today's fast pace lifestyle, then you need to go to DOOLEY'S FINE DINING and get away from it all.

BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT! I "attempted" to eat lunch there today with a co-worker and we were the only ones in the restaurant after arriving at 11¦25. The waitress was kind enough and took our order and 25 minutes later, after still not receiving our sandwhich and chips, we asked about our order and the waitress said she would check on it and disappeared. Needless to say, we finally left without our food! Bad first impression! I do not recommend this restaurant if you on on your lunch hour.

Dooley's Tavern and Grill has been a great experience for us each time we've visited. During lunch you are able to take in the history of the building while enjoying some of the best food around. The handbreaded chicken tenders and homemade ranch are excellent! Or when we've been at night, the atmosphere has been energetic and welcoming, the drink specials are very reasonable and the fun we had at karoake on Friday nights will never be forgotten. Also, we discovered that above Dooley's Tavern is Dooley's Fine Dining, where we realized that you don't have to leave town to find a good steak.

My friends and I went there over the weekend. I was really expecting it to be ok, but I was kind of disappointed. The service was ok, but not particularly fast and the waitress seemed put out when we asked for a menu. The meat on my roast beef sandwich was very tough and chewy. On the other hand, the drinks were fantastic.

I have eaten at Dooley's grill and Tavern and Dooley's Fine dining. They both get five forks!!!!! The bar is a great place to come out and have fun OR if you like it to be peaceful, go up to Dooley's Fine Dining on Thrusday, Friday, or Saturday. Head chef Tim Anderson does not work up there anymore and the food is 10 times better than before!!!!! I give both places FIVE FORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Abel
a bad job

not a big fan, service is almost always bad, and i know it is a bar, and it is hard to enjoy food over load drinkers, i do drink myself but think if a bar and eatery are housed in the same building they should be divided, or kept under control.

I too was disappointed in the roast beef the last time I ate there. It was mostly fatty and unchewable. My other times there, it was really good so hopefully this was just a fluke. I will say it beats Doc's hands down. At least Dooley's roast beef is real roast beef, not some dried beef product passed off as such.

i would never come back!!! i hate it
